Go for it Friday

It's Friday so anything goes. And thanks for the great response for my first blog posting. Over 100 comments, great discussion. Who needs the CJ Urinal when I have this great blog to participate in with all my friends.

So here's something from the great North Carolina bluegrass band Balsam Range. Song about what it felt like to be a Southerner at the end of the Civil War.

  4. Wow, Sarge, he's actually acting civil to you today!!!! I'd make a remark about Sherman's army, but it turns out I had an ancestor with them, too - William H. Remy of the 68th Indiana.

When, oh when, will Mousey turn into Hand-Job?

Pro hint for handjob. It takes two clicks and you're gone. That's a lot less effort than it takes to type all that hyperbolic gibberish you post. Just an FYI.

  7. So Ken, just how deep are your ties to those blue devils who fought in the war of northern aggression?

    Just kidding, you know that.

But General Sherman certainly has those who loved him and those who hate him, both with cause in their eyes.

Here's a little trivia for you all.

In WWII there was a tank named for General W.T. Sherman, the M4 Sherman Tank. A death dealing machine except when it met a German Tiger then it became a death trap.

There was also one named for Confederate Calvary General J.E.B Stuart, considered by many to be the greatest Calvary leader ever. The M3 Stuart and it's derivative M5 Light Tank.

Funny that I'd notice something like that. Use your psychic powers, Mousey, what do you think I'm thinking of right now?

  8. Do you remember the comic book about the Stuart Tank that was haunted by JEB Stuart himself? I used to buy those (and Weird War & Sergeant Fury and his Howling Commandos) every month.

Tigers were only badass so long as they ran (their automotives were terrible) and could stay away from airplanes. Since their top speed was from 10 mph (Tiger Mark IV) to 4 mph (King Tiger), they were more like moving pillboxes. The Panther was a better German tank.

  18. Ken, haters just gonna hate. This one just hates everybody and everything.

I suspect it has to do with his getting sent to prison for stealing from his clients. That can make a weak person bitter and angry and cause them to blame everybody else for the troubles of their own making.

He especially dislikes you because you are a successful lawyer and didn't steal from anybody and get disbarred and sent to prison.

Jealousy I guess. That and probably some sort of diagnosable mental illness that has gone untreated for most of his life.

    Maybe.

Maybe I need to take a break from here, also..get busy...and see?

Obviously, it will also provide fodder for OTHER ignorant liberals to post over there...who can also be taught a thing or two. (Well...maybe not "taught". They are incapable of actually 'learning' anything from facts and truths.)

Oh...and good job with Buttstash over there. Seems he hates just about EVERYBODY, huh? (Well...except the mods over at the Urinal. His own personal Tootsie Pops...)

  40. Good Morning Nunya :)

It's not in season yet, but I pulled out some Christmas music books and trying to work on some Christmas songs on guitar. Wowzers being away from some songs and I was rusty. When working on Do You Hear What I Hear... it took a little while to get it to sound fairly normal (smiles).

been also working in the Beatles book.... lots of cool songs there.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Makes sense to me, Rikki. The time to learn Christmas songs is before Christmas...so's you can play them during Christmas!;^)

    The Beatles...

I had a heck of a time trying to learn their songs when I was younger. Tried to learn them by ear, playing to records...but could never quite get a lot of them in tune! I have since learned that they did a lot of "Vari-speed" during recording for different reasons. Record the vocals with tape moving a bit slower, so when they sped it back up, it made their vocals just a bit higher in pitch...and they often didn't get it back to the exact A-440 tuning pitch...which made playing by ear to standard tuning sound "off". Stuff like that. Those guys (and George Martin) were ahead of the game with recording techniques and manipulation tricks.

The most famous example is the "Baroque harpsichord"-sounding bit in "In My Life". Producer George Martin actually played the piano on that, but he wasn't skilled enough to play it in actual speed. So, he slowed the tape down by half, played the part at that slower speed, and when they sped the tape back up, the part "sounded" twice as fast, and the pitch doubled...making a standard piano sound like a harpsichord!

    https://ofbuckleyandbeatles.wordpress.com/2010/12/05/beatles-production-tricks-part-ii-varispeed/

So, anyway...I couldn't quite figure it out, and just gave up on most Beatles songs. Besides...my interests changed to harder rock, anyway!

Just be aware that if you try to play along with SOME (not ALL) Beatles...you may have to tweak the tuning a bit!

    1. Hi Nunya :)

Went through the stack of music books, sorted Christmas, Contemporary Christian & Hymns, assorted secular (Mason Williams, got some ZZ but haven't delved into it yet, Disney themes, Sound of Music, Spanish songs including Malaguena) plus notes I've kept from when I was in guitar lessons.... when things start looking up for hubby n' me financially I'd like to get back into lessons. Would like to learn more on my hollow body electric... it's got those nice violin cuts on either side of the strings. Very pretty.

will make note on the tweaking part on the Beatles :).

I've learned how to play by reading tablature and regular notes. I am a work in progress. :)

      Delete
  42. Sounds like we have some serious players here. Good on you.

I've been dipping back in a little. Used to play a lot. Gave it up for years. Kind of dabbled a little a couple years ago, bought a bunch of toys so I dug them all out and plugged them in to see if it works. They do so now to get busy.

Got a mandolin I've pretty much forgotten how to play. Got a ukelele I know a couple of chords on. But I have a mini studio. Mics, 4 track recorder, nice Berringer 8 channel mixer. Now to get busy and put it to use.

Rikki, you inspire me to get going again. We'll see what happens.

    1. Safe, thanks :). Hubby has a mandolin also but trying to self teach himself.... still at first base sort of kinda.

when I'm super stressed, getting the guitar strings to sing is so calming -

Oh, forgot to mention on my reply to Nunya that I've also got Simon and Garfunkel too ... but I'm missing my favorite Christmas music book.... called Finger Pickin' Christmas... lots of cool stuff in there. What Child Is This is really pretty, Away in a Manger, etc. In my other Christmas book is Do You Hear What I Hear?....

You, Nunya, me & my hubby and anyone else who wants to be included should try getting together for a jam session.... maybe a nice day at Lake Shawnee or Gage Park? I mean this sincerely.

      Hugs.

What you stated about in orlando isn't just happening there. It's everywhere. Even in little ol Kansas. Assembled rifles are still a plenty, but lowers and uppers, and other kits and components are disappearing as we speak. The left is the best salesman.
I've said before that I almost wonder if the dems are the biggest gun company stock holders. Their rhetoric creates a pandemic of sales and rising prices. I'm so tired of it. I'm not just an owner, I actually spend a lot of personal time in range time. Rhetoric takes away from my personal happiness. Keeps up, and I'll be forced to find another hobby. Sucks.
If anybody is considering a purchase, you had better get it done soon. AR's will always be around but availability and pricing will get tight. I bought a spikes stripped lower this week for a winter build. That's how you have to plan now. Let's hope Trump smoothes the waters.....

I'll be out of town in Sept the weekend of the 10th but otherwise I'm good to go.

    ReplyDelete
  50. And the obama regime in it's best imitation of Pravda is editing the transcripts of the 911 call the Islamic terrorist in Orlando made.

In the quest to paint this as a gun problem and a hate crime against gays they are willing to do anything they have to do, no matter how unethical or fascist in nature. Nothing new, just interesting revelation.

And we are seeing buttstash over on the urinal carrying the ungodly left wing message that the Orlando shooter was driven by Christian hate speech denouncing gays. Now why would he be repeating such an obvious lie as that?

This is important. Do the math. If having faith in God and believing the bible and not being willing to denounce God and turn your back on Him because of social pressure inspires Islamic terrorists, and this regime doesn't even allow there are Islamic terrorists then how much of a leap is it to label Christians as terrorists? And the big push is to restrict our constitutional rights without due process simply by putting your name on a list. So if believing practicing sexual perversion is a sin makes you a terrorist, you can easily see where this goes.

Remember, every advance the ungodly left has achieved so far has been done incrementally, with constant pressure just like what buttstash is doing. That may take time, but it takes time to destroy a civilization that is as powerful as America. And they do have time.

So when you read buttstash and his repetitious comments on Contra's blog you need to see the underlying motivation. You are hearing the same thing from all over this borg we call the ungodly left. They are repeating that same point again and again. That's how they work.

And have no doubt, if Hillary Clinton gets elected it will advance faster than ever. And nothing that happens should surprise you at that point.

The only hope America has is to elect Donald Trump at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  51. And the scary part is that the fucking media won't even raise an eyebrow.

    And the loyal masses?

    Batshit is exhibit A...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I posted this on Contra's blog a little bit ago...thought I'd share it here too but with some more blunt language....

    WWII....Japanese American Internment

Some call that discrimination - but Franklin Roosevelt did what he could to protect the American people within it's borders.... over time FDR and his administration received a black eye from leftists... but FDR had to do this - he had a nation of peoples to protect.... he didn't do the wishy washy sympathizing that Obama is doing with the Radical Islamic Terrorists... Obama should be impeached for breach of trust due to his sympathizing with them... actually he needs to be placed in jail for placing all Americans in danger !
The internet needs to be more closely monitored - cell phone activity needs to be more closely monitored..... The leftists and those within the Republican Party who have been bashing Trump on this are damned cowards.... more worried about how they look.

Can you imagine the outcome of WWII if FDR hadn't of ordered Japanese Americans into internment? Look what happened at Pearl Harbor before it was brutally and mercilessly attacked by Japan.... there was Japanese intelligence people in place staking out the strategy of their attack.

All you lefties who continue to support Obama / Hillary - just know that FDR wasn't concerned about being politically correct..... he was being morally correct because he had a nation of people to protect..... Obama has lost sight of his oath to protect the American people.

    ReplyDelete
  53. well, looks like I pissed off the lefties again.... guess what lefties.... I'm gonna continue to piss you off - the truth that the folks here at 235 has gotta get through to you somehow.... Facts, logic and good common sense are meaningless to him and to them. He will continue to post the same thing over and over because that's what he always does. He's a one trick pony, and a pretty pathetic one at that.

The only times I get his goat is when I play the Mutt & Jeff game with him. And I don't like doing THAT because I have nieces and nephews who go to KSU and I do happen to like the place. Which, as my niece pointed out to me, is hypocritical in itself.

    ReplyDelete

  63. I'll be at T-Henge unless it conflicts with Concordia Reunion Weekend or Glasco Fun Day.

Bat's only real concern is to be a pain in the ass. This, however, he does excel at.

OP, I don't know how much getting liquored up and having guns go together. And as for some new crimes like "being impaired and having a gun" I'd just rather not go there.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Not a fan of drinking and weapon handling. When I was at the summit I didn't bring my guns because I knew I was going to have a beer. And I didn't offer to look at anybody else's guns or touch them. Might have been a different story had I been beer free. I enjoyed watching others shoot.

As for guns and bars, that's usually a pretty lethal mix. Seem my share of hotheads pull guns and knives usually not to a good end. Took a couple guys to the ER when they got stuck. Toughest guy (or drunkest guy) I ever knew got stabbed in the gut, I took him to the ER, they sewed him up and he went back to the bar and kickstarted his Triumph Bonneville and rode away.

I think the issue is around the government telling people where they can and can't carry legally. I think most of us pro second amendment patriots are pretty resistant to giving an inch, because the ungodly left is determined to take our guns, and they are working at it incrementally as they do every evil thing they do.

Every inch we give up is an inch we will never get back.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Just a note. I'm certainly up for what ever at truck henge 2.5. But guns and shooting aren't a necessity. I'll certainly oblige anyone and participate, but really it's about just getting a chance to chat. I owe a couple of you guys beers, too. A debt that I plan to repay....

    ReplyDelete
  66. As for guns and alcohol, they don't mix. But, I'm not gonna say I haven't partook and shot before. But I do know my limits, and absolutely steer clear of people being drunk and shooting. Big difference.
As for bars. I don't care for it myself. But I don't go alot. I can agree with some about firearms not being allowed in bars. But I can also agree with some that giving any inch to laws taking away from firearms freedom is a detriment.
I don't really carry a whole lot, and don't go to bars very much anymore so I probably don't have a dog in the fight. Only concern is erosion of liberties. It probably makes sense to ban firearms Form bars, if said bar provides armed security. And yes that would affect covers and costs. One could argue both ways I suppose....

  73. Well, the Senate voted on four symbolic gun control measures, none of which would have had any effect on much of anything except to infringe on our rights. The democrats actually would propose suspending American citizens constitutional rights based on them being put on a "list" by this corrupt and tyrannical regime. The same people who used the IRS to persecute political opponents and who regularly labels returning veterans and Christians who hold to their faith as "terrorists" would now like to be able to put you on a list simply because they want you on there, and suspend your constitutional rights as an American citizen. Amazing.

But the people of the United States, speaking through their elected representatives said hell no. No draconian gun laws for you. No totalitarian controls over us. We the people have spoken.

Now how about you terrorist sympathizers start protecting America from it's real threat, Islamic terrorism instead of a phony effort to protect us from a non existent threat as a cover for grabbing more control and power and disarming us leaving us at the mercy of the very people you seem to favor.

You got the enlisting and college backward (I enlisted in 1974 and went to school later than that); but otherwise, by-cracky I think you NAILED IT!!!

Safe, I do approve of that entry so please let it stay.

  75. Actually, Trump has $11 billion which I'm guessing is about $11 billion more than handjob has.

  76. Ken, I'll leave it there even though I think it's just a big load of crap and it chafes me to leave anything this asshole posts on this blog.

So here's my disclaimer: The post by hand job does not reflect the views of this blogger and is personally offensive to me is only allowed to stay at the request of a blog family member.

And I might add, that's likely the only thing that will remain since he will revert to full handjob nasty within the next few posts. He can't help himself. He's just a nasty guy.

  77. Oh, I definitely concur, but at least this once he did craft a caricature commercial THAT I WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE TO SEE AIRED. Because, you know other than the image of a bunch of illegal aliens, those images are EXACTLY why I can support the Donald - without any reference to the Harridan whatsoever. So long as we make everything we use overseas, we are NEVER getting up off the mat.

  78. Agreed Ken. But the way to bring manufacturing back home is to get Obama and the ungodly left's foot off the neck of American business.

When businesses are harassed for supporting Republicans as was Gibson guitars, or for the CEO holding a personal religious view the left cannot tolerate as was Chik-Fil-A. Or when businesses are strangled by regulations and petty government non elected officials who act with the full authority of the federal government but are subject to no restraint.

Or when they are forced to provide unaffordable health care insurance to their employees adding great cost to their expenses, insurance the employees can't even afford to use. Businesses exist to make money for the owners, not provide jobs to lazy pathetic workers whose greed is beyond belief.

When the left mantra is continually to raise taxes on business, they are the enemy. They need to "pay their fair share" which is everything, along with give a bunch of worthless lazy people jobs and now they demand they pay them double what they are worth to underperform at jobs that you could basically train a monkey to do.

So yeah, let's make America the productive, innovative and wealth creating country it once was, before these godless liberals had their way.

When we have reached the point that a semi communist/openly socialist runs for president on the democrat party and actually has the support he has, you know we're not at the end of our run as a free country, but you can see it from here.

  79. We need to go back to some protective tariffs. And if that makes some trinkets cost a little more, too damn bad. We need to put Americans to work at real jobs. Like on the urinal last week I mentioned that those meat packing jobs were highly valued when I was young. Now immigrants do them for minimum wage. Could I go ahead and pay an extra 15 cents for a package of ham? Sure as hell. And I should. And say what you will, someone doing hard labor in a packing house should be paid more than a burger flipper. Does that sound "supercilious?" Well it does, but that's just the truth.

We're too great a nation to not recover in time. But since I'm part of a generation that helped get us here, I want to be part of one that bounces back.

  80. What I would like to see done is placing traditional Christmas songs back in all public school Christmas pageants, placing the Ten Commandments back in front of all county court houses, and let our young feel free to pray to God above without fear of bullying or hate attacks from the ACLU and those like minded.

Christianity has been under attack since the time I was a kid in grade school - and it's time to put stuff back.

  81. Here's an even better way to stop those meat packing plants from using low cost illegal immigration labor. Enforce the law.

Implement E-verify for every job. Punish those companies that hire illegal aliens. Prosecute illegals who get forged Social Security cards. No drivers license for illegals. No in state tuition for illegals. No welfare, food stamps, housing. Nothing. If they come in contact with the law, they are on the next bus to Mexico or wherever the hell they came from. Overstay your visa? Gone. And never coming back.

You shut off the magnet that draws the illegals here and they will be gone.

That's why the Chamber of Commerce and the establishment Republicans are fighting Trump and his no illegal immigrant proposals. Cheap labor. And why the Silicon Valley plutocrats are behind it as well. Cheap tech labor and leave Americans unemployed.

If only the ungodly left was smart enough to figure it out. They love illegals. They encourage illegals. They welcome them and throw open the gates to them. Then they come and flood the low wage job market and the lefties stand around scratching themselves wondering what happened.

But then again, when your whole plan it to implement the Cloward-Piven strategy to fill the welfare rolls and bankrupt the country to create a bottom up revolution, maybe it's all part of their plan after all.

  82. See what you went and did mousey? I left your big heaping stinking pile of mouse turds up at the request of Ken against my better judgement. I even said you wouldn't be able to resist getting nasty. And I was right. So off you go.

I gave you a chance and you did exactly what I expected. You never disappoint, I'll say that. You always act like a jackass, without fail.

  83. Is he even more predictable than Batty?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Speaking of Batty, after he purged some of his comments on Contra's blog, he's been unusually quiet....His little tattle session with the Mods must not have gone in his favor....like he hoped....did you catch what he said to me yesterday?

    Have it your way, Riki
I don't know why you do this to yourself, though.
You know how it's going to end.

He's gotten so used to the Mods siding with him on practically everything... things must not have gone well for him yesterday. If he'd just knock off the crap posts, etc., things would be a lot nicer over there.

  86. Thank you Lord, finally....

Just got off the phone with the union. I was asked to make sure I vote for Hillary.
I think I spoke for ten minutes without breathing. And with any luck, may have just destroyed the whole intent of the poor poor representative.
I simply asked a ton of questions involving the Clinton foundation, fucking me with obamacare, fake war on women, rape support, gun grab, benghazi, server incidents, release of classified documents, fake Sniper fire, terroristic support of CAIR, etc... First time I had one of them speechless.
Ended the phone call with "yes I'm voting, and it ain't for that bitch."
Told them to have a good evening, and got told "you too".
Meaningless, but my message was delivered.
Hope each and everyone of my friends in the 235 spread the word as well as I did.
Best part was the high five I gave my wife afterwards, who overheard the conversation.
Yep we are just two votes, true. But that un-American bitch ain't getting one of them.
I guarantee the union won't call again. I'm a member to work, not politicize.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it....

    Trump 2016!

  90. I held nothing back. Not in my nature. But remember, there's a percentage of my dues already handed over to Shillary, and it makes me sick.
Around these parts it's fifty fifty as to support. Im around some hard core union people that eat and sleep liberal. Absolute zombies. Just trying to explain the back room deals of obamacare with attorneys and AFL-CIO and Gruber makes me a target. Conspiracy theorist, they say.
Never mind there is audio and video of the dam stuff.
I have to be a member to work at the level I do. 2,000+ a year in dues, drug tests, safety training, background checks etc... No problem.
But don't tell me who to vote for.
Hammer will run your ass off to a safe space. And I hope it's got a special place to cry. Big ol alligators tears...

No zombie here. I am the antithesis. And their worst nightmare...

    Later folks.

    http://money.cnn.com/2016/06/21/pf/favorite-fast-food-restaurant/

Damn...that hatred and anti-Christian venom spewed by the demonic leftists against Chik-Fil-A sure did some..uh...no?

No damage? They're actually America's FAVORITE fast food?

Hmmm....seems the liberals' intolerance and hate and rage actually helps their intended targets? (Because MOST of America isn't as stupid as liberals...though they are trying to weaponize "stupidity" in schools!)

  92. Hammer...unions' financial involvement in political campaigns should be illegal...just like corporations' should...and ESPECIALLY if corporations should!

Not that the hypocrites on the left see it that way....hell...they wanna unionize illegals to get that money!

  94. Good Middle of the Week y'all...
Hubby n' me are looking forward to the Kansas concert! our older son said he couldn't get off work that evening, so it'll just be hubby, me, and younger son. Gig for Kansas starts at 9 I heard on tv... I told younger son that we'll have to get downtown way early to get a good spot for the lawn chairs.

it'll be just downright awesome and fantabulous to listen to these guys.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Rikki, I would get there really really early. And bring your own shade if you can. It will be crowded and you'll have to park a mile away.

A friend of mine who knows Kerry Livgren said Kerry was planning to do several songs with them. That's a big thing, he is in good health at this point and is able to play again.

I don't know if I will go or not, but it should make Topeka proud to see some hometown boys who made it big. And one who still lives here and contributes to Topeka in many ways. And is a serious Christian, and a Conservative as well.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Safe that's wonderful news about Kerry Livgren.... looking forward to it. Agreed, getting there early is a smart plan for sure. I also plan on taking our double LP album set for some autographs on the front of the jacket cover. It's also super awesome about Kerry Livgren being Christian and Conservative.

When hubby, younger son, and I saw Bonerama when they came earlier this year for their free concert.... it was awesome, Kansas will be even more awesome.

  97. So what's this I hear about ungodly lefties putting in red porch lights to announce they are a "gun free zone"? Is that real or is that just some internet hoax to make them look really dumb.

Cause if that's real this people are stupid to the point of suicide. Personally, I think it's a great idea. Draw the insects to them instead of my house where they will leave three bullets heavier than they came if they break in while I'm home.

What color light are you supposed to put up if you are armed and prepared to repel criminals?

  98. So over on the urinal St Jackie says too bad people can't see what we say over here on the bunker.

    Well......

First of all, anybody that wants to can see everything we say over here any time their little heart desires. In fact, we know with certainty that several of the brain dead ungodly left wing stalkers read us faithfully. They can read what we say and comment as well if they have the guts without a moderator to hide behind.

Then in a further demonstration of just how dim witted he is, when the Captain challenges him to visit and even comment he sniffs out a reply he has better things to do than read our stuff.

So if he doesn't read it, how does he know what we are saying over here? Sheesh, these guys don't think their hyperbole through very well, do they? But then they don't think much of anything through very much as it turns out.

  99. Where's Sarge? Anybody know? Unusual to not hear from him for a few days.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Speaking of that ornery old geezer I just talked to him on the phone.

He said he hasn't been feeling all that great and just got back from the doctors office.

Otherwise he said he'd be back in the saddle raising as much hell as ever as soon as he's up to it...

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm glad Sarge is okay, hopefully he'll be back pestering Dems soon.

And you know, Safe, I would welcome any Dem over who isn't a narc. That leaves out Hand-Job, Happy and Batty, well perhaps not Batty (there's no mod here to whine to and he hasn't real-world narced like the other two). Nonetheless, we all know no Dem other than Hand-Job is going to show up. And he disappears faster than the Cheshire Cat.
