Maybe there's hope for this kid yet...

I got a text from my son-in-law the other night asking me if he can send me something he thought was relevant to today's political reality.

I don't know whether you guys remember Travis from this year's Summit or not.

But he's a good kid.

Well, he was a kid when I first met him.

I imagine he's pushing 40 by now.

When he first arrived on the scene all those years ago I never thought he'd stick around and I wasn't all that sure I wanted him too.

Like all goofy kids he was one of the biggest liberals around.

But like most people, the older he got the more he started paying attention to what's really going on in the world.

I won't say he's a full blown conservative yet.

And if the truth were known he'd really rather cook a good steak than talk politics.

But he's getting there.

Anyway, the quote he sent me is from a goofy Super Hero movie called "Watchmen."

I read it and told him I pretty much summed up everything going on in this country today and that it would make a good intro to an upcoming blog.

Little fucker texted me back saying, "Duh... That's why I sent it to you in the first place."

Smart ass kids anyway...

Quote of the day:
"This city is afraid of me. I've seen it's true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save Us!" and I'll look down and whisper "No." They had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good men like my father or President Truman. Decent men who believed in a day's work for a day's pay. Instead they followed the droppings of lechers and communists and didn't realize that trail led over a precipice until it was too late. Don't tell me they didn't have a choice. Now the whole world stands on the brink, staring down into bloody Hell, all those liberals and intellectuals and smooth-talkers... and all of a sudden nobody can think of anything to say."

  1. Always gives you hope when a young person wakes up and realizes there's more to the world than what it can do for him.

I find most wild crazy liberals become much more conservative when they actually start making some money.

My daughter is a full blown Hollywood liberal but she now has a two year old son. I hear things from her I never thought I'd hear. Little less sympathy for all those people who are sucking the system dry and living off the government tit. She knows how hard she has to work and is getting tired of seeing a pretty big chunk of it go to those who won't.

She's not quite there yet, but once they wake up and they have seen the truth, they can't go back. It just doesn't happen.

So we don't talk politics yet, but we will someday, I know it.

So Kevin, sounds like your son-in-law has awoken from the sleep liberals fall into to be able to believe what they believe.

Maybe being around all of us old conservatives will rub off on him. Hope he's at the next summit.

  2. He had a blast this year doing his thing on the grill.

    Trust me, he'll be there.

I've already explained it wasn't optional...

  3. I got there kind of late and missed the food. This year I will probably stay sober so I can drive myself home and stay longer. Much as I love having a few beers I hate being at the mercy of someone to come drive me home.

And I'll be sure and invite our new friend over on the urinal tearsandchalk. I like that guy. Reminds me of me.
