So what about these statues anyway?

I know this subject has been beat to death, but I want to offer a couple thoughts. Some of you might not agree with me, but that's the beautiful thing about this blog. We can disagree and stay friends. Unlike the left where they are required to march in goosestep with each other, we have many different opinions. Conservatives truly are the party of diversity and independent thought.

So anyway, I don't for a second believe the godless left cares a bit about these statues. I don't believe they just suddenly woke up and were filled with angst over some statues. I think they went after one statue and when they saw the reaction they knew they had a hot button issue. After the Russia thing panned out and turned out to be another big nothing, and President Trump was proven right on North Korea and he backed them down this was where they went to generate hatred and division.

Remember, these statues were put up by democrats in the first place. They are theirs. Now they've turned it all around and people are defending the wrong side. I don't think this was a fight we should have ever engaged in. The talking point should have been the same every single time. Your party put the statues up, if you want them down, take them down. They're yours anyway.

These statues were just part of the democrat party trying to rehabilitate itself after the Civil War. Now here's where we may part company, but this is how I feel.

Despite the notion that the Civil War was fought for state's rights, it was not. It was fought over slavery. Read you history. The state's rights the south fought for was the right to keep slaves. The Republican party was born out of opposition to slavery. Lincoln was strongly opposed to slavery. The southern democrats started a war rather than submit to the nation's laws against slavery. That's all factual.

After the war, when reconstruction came along the south was allowed to restore it's dignity with the claim the fight was over independence and state's rights instead of what it really was about. This was something people allowed because the goal was to reunify the country and heal the wounds.

But the democrat party fought tooth and nail even after the war. They created the KKK. They were rabid segregationists. They fought the civil rights act and the voting rights act. Republicans passed those. To this day, they fight to keep blacks on the plantation and helpless dependents on the government. They fight to keep abortion free and easy even though a disproportionate number of black babies are aborted. Planned Parenthood and abortion were born from the openly racist eugenics movement which sought to exterminate the black race.

I know my history. Robert E Lee was a good and moral man, a Christian. He was a brilliant military leader. Lincoln offered him the command of the Union armies but he refused because he knew they would invade Virginia and he couldn't do that. But he also led the fight that killed an estimated 700,000 men in the fight to keep slavery. So despite all his positives, there is that one big negative.

I think when this started we played right into their hands. By fighting the statue issue we let them fan the flames and spread their hatred and violence and gave the media an opportunity to attack us even if it was based on lies. We opened the door for this one.

And we gave them the win when we made the fight in Charlottesville over statues. It was over freedom of speech. That's the fight we should have had. And that's the issue President Trumps should have been hitting on.

I say from here on when they want a statue of a confederate general taken down, the response should be you people put it up so you can take it down.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on this one. I know not everybody agrees with me but that's OK. We don't have to agree. Let me know what you think.

  1. The left are consistent - always hypocritical. They are attacking soldiers who, as military men, had no choice but to follow orders. No different than Viet Nam or Iraq. They believe these wars to be immoral so are we to condemn the soldiers who fought in them? Of course not.

Conservatives need to fight fire with fire. Tell them to take down the symbols, all the symbols of racism including the blatant racist organization funded by taxpayers aka the congressional black caucus.

  2. Have A Death Wish? Texas police academy instructors are letting protesters know that any gun owner in Texas can use deadly force to stop vandalism, destruction, or the defacing of any monuments or statues in Texas.

Texas Police Academy Instructor Phil Ryan warns all Antifa and BLM protesters, and anyone else interested in defacing their state statues, that if they bring their attitude to Texas, they could end up dead.

Ryan posted this warning to his Facebook page:

Yup you don't mess with Texas!!

    1. No you don't mess with Texas. Just let them try to damage the Alamo and people WILL get shot. Dear lord, if they try to mess with the Texas Lone Star Flag, let's just say that will be the last thing in Texas they will mess with. Texans are extremely loyal to the flag.i have a great uncle who fought at the battle of San Jacinto, and another family member helped to found and settle Houston. Texans are crazy. And we kill people down here for doing stupid stuff like that. One reason six flags have flown over Texas.

  3. Safe, a refreshing piece of writing and thank you.
Found a piece of writing in the American Thinker blog that goes into Lee's life and others in detail...the man truly was an American military hero. And one who, by the way, didn't even want statues put up in his honor.

As to statues, I would rather communities take votes and let the people decide, with the vandals being caught wherever possible and charged with destroying public property. If the laws do so for other things in parks or on streets those should be included until this issue is resolved.

Lastly, I just heard Beck on one of his epic rants about the stupidity and ignorance of these two groups instigating this crap, what with all the really dangerous troubles going on not only here but in the world.
Antifa and company are nothing more than crybabies. Beck also had an audio clip of a nazi "leader", whining like a child who got caught doing something wrong, crying and trying to make excuses for his behavior.
So...I will ask the same question he did...is this what we have allowed these tiny groups of whiny protesters to turn us into?
Beck's advice was to tell them to go read the Black Book of Communism.

  4. I think I 've figured out the definition of progressivism...make a big mess of something, try to force others to either live with it or clean it up their way, then progress onward and find a way to create the next mess while ignoring the aftermath from the last one...

  10. So the racist hate filled senator from Missouri issued a groveling sniveling apology for calling for the assignation of the President.

She said she wouldn't apologize just a couple days ago. I have a feeling the Missouri democrat party told her she better apologize and make it sound sincere and lick the floor while she was at it or they would dump her so fast she wouldn't have time to pack her communist flag.

And what's worse, the clip I heard she claimed to be a Christian. Which is a lie. So one lie after another from a democrat. Must be Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I like Steyn's take on all of this...basically this crap is really a civil war between democrats...

  17. Interesting take safe.
    Good as always.

My belief is that the civil war began about states rights, but became about slavery when Lincoln knew he was losing. He could rally national support with the emancipation.
Besides, everyone in the south knew slavery was old hat with the advent of the cotton gin. It was only a matter time.
    Anyways, that's my two cents...

As far as the statues? They can have them, and you are correct when you point out it should be about free speech.

The liberals won't erase history unless you let them. We can prevent that with how we interact with discussions and dialogue.
And those things are impossible actions by the left.

They know of only stealing blunts and looting liquor stores, and throwing the occasional m-80.
But if they keep it up, they may want to pay attention and see a real movement from the right.
And pray to God it doesn't involve marching in lines and building camps....

  18. Good address, President Trump. Very, very nice to see a president respect and back our military, and especially explain that tactical measures are best left to experience and expertise. Much, MUCH better than that spineless jellyfish in there before, who thought HE knew everything, and outwardly disrespected our military. Thank you, President Trump, for your honest assessment, and also for pointing out a few of Obama's giant pile of weaknesses and arrogance.

  19. I believe the statues are critically important. The reason is not really "about statues", they are a symptom of the problem that if not stopped will get worse. You have to stop it or next it will be something else, we haven't got to this point by any one big thing, lots of little things that we would say, well that is no big deal.

We have to get down to these evil people's level and take them on, or just complain and wonder why things get worse and remember when life was better, then when we are all gone, nobody will know the difference and this society will go the way of Greece, Rome........

But on the flip side, I've got this cynical side that sees it continuing to drag on and on. I pray I'm wrong...

And then I see that fricking Lindsey Grahamnesty having verbal orgasms...disgusting pos of a senator.

It's been determined by the Climate Change experts that the Solar Eclipse experienced today, was in fact a large "Carbon Footprint" that covered the Sun for a period of time today! The so called "eclipse" was, in fact man-made pollution, the likes of which will probably occur on a much more re-occuring basis! Climate-Skeptics, who know nothing about Climate change, are simply trying to the explain the happening by saying that the Moon was simply lined up with the Sun, causing the Sun to be covered by it, causing the darkness!

  31. At last count, there are 14 organizations planning to protest against President Trump’s rally in Phoenix on Tuesday, this according to a tally by the Phoenix Sun Times, a news organization that has attempted to track them all.
Meanwhile, two groups will be on hand in support of the president.

Donald Trump is coming to the Phoenix Convention Center to hold a rally. There have been plans for Charlottesville sympathizers to protest. We need our bikers to show up and keep people safe,” Bikers for Trump Arizona Cobra Chapter says in a “call to action” to the group’s members — in anticipation of a possible encounter with anti-Trump protesters, who will assemble at the arena an hour before Mr. Trump steps on stage in the early evening.

“They are supposed to start at 6:00. We think we need to be there by at least 4:00. That is when the doors open. If there are people outside waiting to get in, we don’t want anyone to harass them. Protesters have a right to protest, but they don’t have a right to threaten or intimidate. That is why we need to be there,” the notice explained.

There also will be a “Stand for Patriotism Rally,” outside the convention center. Organizers advise participants that “anti-American and “hate groups” will be in attendance.

“Let’s counterprotest them and stand up for God and country,” the planners suggest.

  32. "Crusader forts"...term used by Steyn today, on Limbaugh. He's discussing Afghanistan. These are military fortresses inside that country where our military trains and works with "friendlies". Americans are literally isolated inside these places except for patrols and such, because going outside those walls is too dangerous. These huge bunkers, if you will, are also where soldiers get killed by their so-called "friendly" Afghan trainees.
I looked up that term and found an old editorial written by Steyn on 2 march 2012, detailing crusader fortresses in depth and they date back to 1140 ad in war history...probably further. Everything held outside the walls is in the tight grip of the enemy and Afghans are sharia dominated.
That report of course was published during the benevolent emperor Obama's reign and what we are up against.
"Crusader Forts: America's longest war will leave no trace"...published in the orange county register 2 march 2012; ocregister.com.
If you use search term "crusader forts" there is a wealth of info to be found...

I like the way this is phrased because it recognizes that the political class are "bought and paid for". I believe that the basic premise is correct: If you listen to Trump, he is hitting many of the hot buttons of the electorate. But you have to listen to him and not be distracted by his showmanship and obnoxious behavior.

I like the list of 13 things that I, as a senior American citizen, want. Trump is at least talking about issues that most Americans are concerned about. My mantra about Trump is this: Truthfully, We are usually in agreement with most of what he says but wish someone else was saying it. We are offended by his brash manner. We are getting older and our tickers aren't what they used to be, but what matters is that he covers most of the 13 things we as seniors want, at least I do for sure.

“Do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he weren’t repeatedly invading your space? Or do you turn, look him in the eye, and say loudly and clearly ‘Back up you creep. Get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women, but you can’t intimidate me so back up.’ I chose option A. I kept my cool, aided by a lifetime of dealing with difficult men trying to throw me off,” Mrs. Clinton writes in an excerpt of her book released on MSNBC."

Their lawyers refused to give closing arguments...they let the evidence, testimony and hijinks by that judge (Navarro...leftist) and the prosecution speak for itself.
They had gagged defendents from being allowed to defend themselves and she forcibly removed one from the witness stand among other travesties of the system.
The paper has the full series od articles and it is quite a story...those who think kangaroo courts are a thing of the past need to read it and realize what life is like in Reid country and that damned judge needs to be forced off the bench and disbarred. 67. Sure is. They are planning a nationwide riot on Nov. 4, to overthrow Trump and the government. "Normal rules of protest and petition don't apply", they say.

Basically, they seem to be saying "Let us destroy cities, or you'll have to stop us by force", I guess.

    Oh, wait...same thing!

    http://cjonline.com/opinion/2017-08-23/editorial-efforts-toward-equality-must-persist

Meanwhile, they go on to insinuate that KKK and white supremicists represent all white folk, and only white folk seem to be the problem. Those groups do not represent ANY conservatives! But, liberals seem to support ALL leftist hate groups. Why is that?

It's ONLY the white folk who need to change, and accept "equality".

No mention of the violence, racism, intolerance and hatred from leftist groups, though they do mention BLM.

"Black Lives Matter activists have raised the subject repeatedly, but that movement has become a lightning rod for those who argue it excludes members of other races."

It's also become a strong magnet for violent, destructive intolerant black people...but...let's not mention THAT!

"Efforts toward full equality must persist. Neo-Nazis, white supremacists and their ilk must be confronted by those united in rejecting hatred and bigotry."

Sounds like they condone violence from the left.

Let's rewrite that statement to be more factual and realistic:

"Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, BLM, Antifa, the Democrat party and their ilk must be confronted by those united in rejecting hatred and bigotry."

    There...that would be more honest.

That's why it wan't written that way.

The Topeka Capital-Journal blatantly calls for "confrontation" (violent protests) against anything right of the far-left.

They've just written it. I bet they're hoping for chaos on Nov. 4. Will make a good "Fake News" cover story (blaming the right, of course).

  83. I see five reasons Democrats on Capitol Hill should stock up on life preservers.

    1) Trump’s unpopularity won’t matter. Republicans and moderates who like Trump will vote Republican out sympathy with the president’s state of siege, but many of those who don’t like him will vote Republican as well. That’s because Americans tend to like “their guy” (or woman) in Washington whoever's president and whatever the overall political climate.

The power of incumbency in Congress can’t be overstated – and of course it tends to favor the party already in power. In 2016, 97 percent of House members and 87 percent of Senators running for re-election won. Even in the “wave election” of 2014, the numbers were 95 percent and 82 percent, respectively.

The most effective way, then, for a party to take advantage of a national political mood and pick up seats is to run strong candidates to replace legislators who retire. That doesn’t seem a promising plan for Democrats in next year’s elections.

Right now, 2018 looks to be the first year in the history of Senate elections in which no incumbent retires. On average, seven Senate seats per cycle open up, and there have always been at least two.

Retirements in the House so far don’t look good for Democrats either. As of August 10, only 18 Representatives (out of 435) had announced they were retiring or running for another office, most are from safe seats – except for a Florida seat that might flip to the Democrats and seats in Minnesota and Nevada that might flip to the Republicans. The fact those numbers are so small is good news for the party in power, of course.

    2) The Senate map is savage for Democrats. Only one Republican is up for re-election in a state that Hillary Clinton won last year, while 10 Democratic Senators are up for re-election in states that President Trump won last year. Many of those (North Dakota, Indiana, Montana, and West Virginia, to name a few) skew decidedly rightward. Of the Senate seats most likely to flip parties next year, only two (Nevada and Arizona) are currently held by Republicans.

Then there’s Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), who will be replaced by a Republican if convicted in his corruption trial next month and then expelled from the GOP-led Senate.

    3) Structural reasons lock the Democrats out of the House. In fact, winning the House gets harder for Democrats every cycle. Gerrymandering has already created Republican-friendly maps throughout the country (an advantage that will likely grow in the next redistricting cycle given Republican dominance in the states). Further, the voter ID laws in 29 states tend to help Republicans, and in states like Missouri and Texas (both of which have Senate races next year), voter ID requirements have been getting stricter.

The obstacles preventing a Democratic wave election are just too steep. Earlier this month, FiveThirtyEight’s David Wasserman shocked the political world with this nugget of data: “Even if Democrats were to win every single 2018 House and Senate race for seats representing places that Hillary Clinton won or that Trump won by less than 3 percentage points — a pretty good midterm by historical standards — they could still fall short of the House majority and lose five Senate seats.”

America simply has fewer swing districts than it used to, because America has fewer swing voters. Blame social media, blame polarizing figures like Donald Trump, but the makeup of Congress can’t change dramatically in an environment with ossified voting patterns.

And Democrats don’t have much of a “bench,” either. The most successful Congressional candidates are often state legislators and statewide officeholders, but the number of Democratic elected officials in the 50 states shrank dramatically in the Obama years. You can’t defeat somebody with nobody.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Part 2

    4) Democrats have not learned the lessons of 2016. Democratic explanations for why they lost last year are completely out-of-touch, which means they can’t learn from their mistakes. Some Democrats think they ging the momentum of American politics. That view confuses excitement in a primary with potential in a general election. More Sanders-style Democrat candidates would be a delicious gift to the GOP.

There’s one other piece of evidence Democrats aren’t learning from 2016: Nancy Pelosi still runs their caucus in the House. Americans don’t like her, for good reasons (her extreme liberalism and her deceit on Obamacare) and bad (she’s a woman from San Francisco who was alive during the Roosevelt Administration). But until they find a young, telegenic, vibrant House member to serve as minority leader, Pelosi will be an albatross in race after race, the GOP delighting in connecting her to Democrat House candidates.

  85. From Townhall

Ami Horowitz took to the streets to talk about income inequality with some of the most insufferable people on the planet: progressives. Of course, they all felt it was a critical issue. One man was a member of the Working Families Party in the state. So, which country can we look to for guidance in solving this issue? How about socialist hellhole Venezuela? It’s the nation with rolling blackouts, inadequate medical supplies, no toilet paper, no food, and rampant crime. Venezuelans are looting to survive, where people are eating pets and eating out of trashcans. With food supplies running low, government-run committees have been set up to assisted with distribution, but for those who have criticized the government, no food for you. That’s 21st Century Socialism.

And apparently this is what these kids want (via Daily Wire):

Horowitz then asks the interviewees, all of whom no doubt are “still feeling the Bern,” if they think that we should model ourselves on another country that promises “income equality”: Venezuela, which, he explains, is in the midst of an economic death spiral to the point where it is experiencing dire food shortages and frequent violence between citizens and police forces. Despite the hellish reality of Venezuela’s failed socialist state, all of his interviewees still thought Venezuela’s day-long food lines would be preferable to the United States’ selfish, “undignified” capitalistic system.

“Even though there’s some downside, there’s some violence there and some food lines,” Horowitz says to bandana guy, “but still everyone has to do the same thing — they wait in line equally.”

Though the young man appears to be quite knowledgeable about Venezuela, nodding and agreeing with Horowitz’ description of its crisis situation, he still agrees with Horowitz that it’s better to “wait in line equally.”

“That is, I think, a fair system,” says Horowitz.

“I agree,” says bandana guy emphatically.

Interviewee after interviewee agrees that modeling ourselves after Venezuela is a great idea because America is just too unfair and “undignified.”

“If you gotta wait in line for stuff, we should all wait in line together,” says Horowitz.

Either these people don’t read, don’t care, or don’t know. Regardless, slamming America while idolizing a left wing nation that’s an economic nightmare; that’s progressivism for you.

I think this country could come up with the money to send all these Assholes over there, one way tickets though.

  96. A Baltimore monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus had stood proudly near Herring Run Park for more than 200 years. It stood tall through decade after decade of strife in this nation, but it couldn’t withstand the lunatic, leftist fringe that has taken hold in 2017. As documented by a YouTube channel called “Popular Resistance,” men cloaked in hoodies destroyed the monument with a sledgehammer on Monday morning, phrasing their crime as a fight against the “culture of white supremacy.”

“Racism: Tear it Down.” “The future is racial and economic justice.” These were a couple of the signs held by the individuals who embarked on this sad attempt to deface a glorious symbol of America’s legacy.

“Racist monuments to slave owners and murderers have always bothered me,” a narrator said in the YouTube video. “Baltimore’s poverty is concentrated in African-American households, and these statues are just an extra slap in the face. They were built in the 20th century in response to a movement for African Americans’ human dignity. What kind of a culture goes to such lengths to build such hate-filled monuments? What kind of a culture clings to those monuments in 2017? The culture of white supremacy preceded the United States. It’s at the foundation of U.S. culture, business, bureaucracies and psychology.”

  100. Former FBI Director James Comey was fired by President Donald Trump on May 9, 2017.

Before that, Comey allowed twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to walk free even after acknowledging she could’ve very easily been prosecuted.

    From Young Conservatives

Essentially, Comey rewrote federal law to let Hillary slide.

Now, historically black Howard College has decided to throw Comey a bone…

    From Politico:

Former FBI Director James Comey will deliver a keynote address to Howard University students in the coming weeks and take on a part-time post giving lectures at the school.

The university said Wednesday that Comey, who was fired earlier this year by President Donald Trump, would speak at the opening convocation ceremony slated for Sept. 22, which is designed to welcome students to the historically black university.

Comey will also hold a one-year position at Howard, delivering a series of five lectures related to public policy, the university said.

    More from Washington Examiner:

The university said Comey will announce the topics of his lectures “after consulting with student leaders and other campus stakeholders on topics relevant to the Howard community.”

In a press release, Howard University notes that during his tenure at the FBI, Comey “supported several programs across the organization that focused on diversity initiatives.”

  101. I know I said this before but...

    From The Gateway Pundit

    Red Alert Politics reports:

Ron Meyer, Editor of Red Alert Politics, responded this morning on a debate for Fox and Friends First:

“Those statues are right where Nancy Pelosi left them when she was Speaker of the House…

“The truth is, the Democrats have a pretty poor history on Civil Rights, including Nancy Pelosi’s own father who was the Mayor of Baltimore — and was one of the people who dedicated statues to Robert E. Lee and ‘Stonewall’ Jackson, and in his speech said that they defended ‘sacred institutions.’ What are those ‘sacred institutions’? One of them is slavery.

“And the truth is, the Democrat Party has a history of opposing Civil Rights, favoring Jim Crow laws, and also defended slavery back when the Civil War happened.”

Recently, Pelosi branded Confederate monuments as reprehensible and called on Speaker Paul Ryan to join her in removing them.

    AP reports:

Pelosi asked Ryan to join Democrats in supporting legislation to remove the Confederate statues. The legislation can’t pass without support from Republicans, who control both chambers of Congress.

Pelosi said the statues in the Capitol should “embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation.”

Pelosi’s challenge came after violence during a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, stoked calls to remove Confederate statues everywhere. About 10 statues in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall are of men who served as Confederate soldiers or politicians.

“The Confederate statues in the halls of Congress have always been reprehensible,” Pelosi said in a statement issued late last week. “If Republicans are serious about rejecting white supremacy, I call upon Speaker Ryan to join Democrats to remove the Confederate statues from the Capitol immediately.”

Ryan spokesman Doug Andres responded by defending the right of each state to place two statues of its choosing in the Capitol’s National Statuary Hall.
