No news Monday.

I know there's plenty of news out there. I'm just getting a little tired of it all. Just taking a day off from the constant barrage of godless leftist attacks.

Let's talk about something else. How about music? I know most of the readers of America's Blog are music lovers. So, what do you listen to your music on?

I know Rikki said she still has a turntable. Sarge has a reel to reel. Old school style. Great ways to listen.

Myself, I finally put together a stereo. I'm a big estate sale guy, go to all of them. It's our business so it's kind of my job. But I also get stuff for me. I found a great speaker system. Old eighties stuff. Real high end in it's day, along with a Pioneer amp/receiver that has a ton of power. This stuff was expensive in it's day, now you can buy it pretty cheap. Picked up a turntable and I'm in business. I can listen to all those LPs I have stored away. And I'm picking up more vinyl at sales.

I like listening to music on vinyl. Maybe it's just reliving my youth. Maybe the sound is actually better. I don't know. It just feels good.

And yes, I still have music on my iPhone. I'm not a Luddite all of a sudden. And I have CDs. But playing vinyl just feels good to me. And listening on nice speakers with a powerhouse amp driving them definitely sounds better than any of the bluetooth little highly engineered speakers I have.

Vinyl is coming back, but fewer people like the old stereo equipment so it's affordable. But it's not digital or bluetooth compatible or whatever. And I'm fine with that.

I saw a reel to reel at a sale the other day and I almost bought it but you can't buy reel tapes anymore like you could. But that's a pretty purist way to listen as well.

So anybody else? Any thoughts before we dive back into all the terrible stuff going on? I know we'll be back to politics before the days over but I thought I'd just take a little one blog break just for me at least.

As always, we're not a blog that forces anybody to stay on any topic. We're a conservative blog which means we let anybody have their say, unlike the other side who gives you two choices, agree or shut up. So have at it friends.

Happy Monday. Feels like Saturday to me!

  3. GIs back in the day used to get all sorts of stereo equipment and I was no exception. I have a Tandberg receiver and cassette deck, Dual 721 direct drive turntable, JVC receiver, Bose 901 series III speakers and Marantz power speakers. I had a Tandberg reel-to-reel, but it was stolen.

But like most others nowadays, I usually listen to digital off a computer or Bluetooth.

  4. FM Radio for me! I have a great selection of practically every tune ever written but I have a problem pulling up just the exact song I want to hear! Oh well. :)

  6. Safe & Kevin.... question...

Melodius Mondays sounds like something cool to do on an every now and then basis. Whenever you want it to happen. I'm glad Safe brought it up this morning. Your thoughts?

Speaking of songs of long ago.... (hate to even think that the 60's was that long ago) hee hee

When we lived in Los Angeles....here's a song that my brother would turn the radio volume up on - my Mom hated the song because this song was played like a broken record on the radio but my brother loved this song. My brother was a character...

How many of you remember way back when that if you had a scrape or something like that and your Mom would bring out the iodine.... I hadn't thought of this until just now - my brother was in Track in high school, he scraped one of his knees and when he saw Mom coming with the iodine he commenced to "sprinting" all over the back yard and Mom was chasing him.... he wore her out but she still got him. (hee hee).

  10. Off topic

    1. GDP 4.6%

    2. Stock market doing very well.

    3. Unemployment at a generational and racial demographic low.

    4. New NAFTA deal soon.

Those are the REAL stories of the day.

It sucks that we lost a wartime flyboy. Too bad people don't give the same notice to the boys that have come home from Iraq, Afganny, and hell even Benghazi....

Keep in mind the New York Times bashed the flyboy(with disproven info) when running against the emporer, and then reveres him now because of a tiff with our current president and the fact that he rolled over on several votes in Congress for the commies.

I choose to keep my eye on the ball. They can play three card Monte all day, and I won't bite. Maybe it's just me.

    On topic

Music? I delve into it at work, and when I need peace from the Bach ground of it all.

Pandora and my music files mostly. I have come to enjoy classical music immensely these days. Problem is I thought I liked strings the most, but it seems to be the horns that really suit me.
I get many laughs at work, but I don't care. I know what's good for my mind and personality.
    Again, maybe that's just me...

  11. I’m a big fan of big band. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman etc. but I picked up a couple Herman’s Hermits and a Ventures LPs at a sale this weekend. So I’m all over the place.

  13. Well, music is a nice diversion. Nice to read a good book and listen to some tunes. I spend way too much time on politics. I worry way too much about stuff God is in control of.

And I do believe God put Donald Trump in office. God uses people who aren’t perfect.

Study Moses. He was a murder. He led Gods people out of bondage.

Study David. Immoral man who did terrible things. Wrote the Psalms.

Study Jacob. Stole his brother’s birthright. His name means deceiver. He was the Father of Nations.

Study the Apostle Paul. Murdered and persecuted Christians. He was the greatest Apostle. Brought the church to the world.

Study Peter. Impulsive. Denied Jesus three times. Spent his life following the great commission.

So is President Trump a Christian? Probably not. But God is using him. He is part of God’s plan for us. That much I’m sure of.

  17. safe journey Kevin.

I've been skimming through the media online newspapers... nothing new - it's the typical "everyone hates Trump".... yada yada yada.

But something refreshing caught my eye.... a fellow Republican is quoted as saying that McCain is partially to blame for the controversy over the White House Flag issue.... From the get go....McCain made it his quest to oppose President Trump at every turn. When it was revealed that McCain had terminal cancer, what did he do? He specifically was quoted as saying that he didn't want President Trump at his funeral, and McCain's family mirrored those wishes the other day to President Trump.

    1. McCain was truly a demoNcrat in Republican clothing.
    2. The media isn't done praising McCain...because he's one of their own (i.e. a Trump hater).
    3. It is disrespectful behavior towards the Commander in Chief to bluntly tell him "don't show up at the funeral."

  19. Seems Mr McCain became bitter after losing to Obama, but ran a terrible race for president. Then was even angrier after Trump won.

Now he has Hillary, Obama and Chuck Schumer saying what a great guy he was. That says a lot right there.

It is really too bad, seems politics at almost any level corrupts, but especially D.C. It must be the hunger and satisfaction of power and greed? Still it happens at all levels, you see it at city, county and state levels.

  25. I like country music, I hate hard rock and rap. My husband had all the gadgets for playing music. When we got married he had the big speakers, turn table and all the other stuff. Finally, many years later I asked him if we could get rid of the BIG speakers. You would think I had insulted his mother! He told me all about how expensive his equipment was and I reminded him that he bought all that stuff when he was in college, many, many years ago. He looked at me and agreed it was time to let it all go. I was so glad to get rid of the speakers. What is it about men and their big speakers and building a big fire?

I listen to various music in my vehicle. The other day I politely asked the woman who lives inside my vehicles console to play easy listening music. She hates me so she directed me to yacht music. I kid you not there is a station called Yacht Music! So here I am driving down the road on my way to do some thrifting and I am listening to yacht music. Yep, I was driving and smiling. That evening my husband took my vehicle to gas it up. When he returned he asked me what the h*** type of music was I listening to? I just smiled and told Jethro Tull, Aqua Lung.

  26. Got a goofy email from my Uncle in Minnesota.... y'all gonna bust a gut laughing at some of these.... Enjoy!

    RETIRED HUSBAND: (ALLOVER)
After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Walmart,. unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife's like most women-loves to browse & leaves me with endless time to fulfill. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Walmart:

Dear Mrs. Harris: Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion our store. We cannot tolerate his behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

*1 June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking

*2 July 2: Set all of the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5 minute intervals.

*3 July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

*4 July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and received a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time, and costing the company money. We don't have a Code 3.

*5 August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

    *6 August 14: Moved a ,'CAUTION-WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

*7 August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which 20 children obliged.

*8 August 23: When a clerk asked if they can help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't people just leave me alone? EMT's were called.

*9 September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

*10 September 10: While handling the guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

*11 October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming 'Mission Impossible' theme.

*12 October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna Look' using different size funnels.

*13 October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yell 'Pick Me! Pick Me!'.

*14 October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed the fetal position and screamed,' OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'

*15 Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and ask where is the fitting room?

    *And last, but not least.

*16 October 23: Went into the fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here. one of the clerks passed out.

If you don't send this to your dearest friend, you will be depriving them of some good humor.

Enjoy life, it has an expiration date.
