In a showdown of left vs right on illegal immigration policy, two caravans with an estimated 7,000 South Americans are traveling north to test the U.S. resolve.
ReplyDeleteWhen Pres. Trump took office, he vowed to end the open borders policies and loopholes that allowed millions to flow into the country undocumented. Coyotes, drug cartels and deadly street gangs such as MS-13 have successfully penetrated the border for decades, bringing drugs and violence to American streets.
The administration saw early success as fewer tried to cross over. But extreme-left Democrats have been vocal about open borders and sanctuary city policies that have been like a magnet to non-citizens. During the spring of 2018, the first large group attempted to overwhelm border officials when hundreds of El Salvadorans claimed asylum.
Many were disqualified because U.S. law states refugees must apply for asylum in the first country possible. It was all too apparent they were looking to tap into the American welfare system and hide in sanctuary cities such as San Francisco. But the move did result in some slipping through the bureaucratic cracks, prompting human traffickers to promote massive groups.
Recognizing the escalation of illegal immigration at the border, the president called on states to deploy National Guard units. The move was one his predecessors Pres George W. Bush and Pres. Obama both approved. But in-fighting with Democrat state governors who threatened to remove National Guard units unless the Trump Administration yielded to liberal policy ideology showed clear chips in the U.S. Border armor. The president pivoted by threatening to shutter the border and end taxpayer-funded aid to countries responsible for sending the hordes north.

The president appears to have little choice but to move forward with a permanent solution as U.S. Commander-in-Chief to maintain the country’s national security and sovereignty. If Democrats regain power in the U.S. House, immigration reform will be off the table. That means building more of the president’s signature border wall and other monitoring assets are unlikely to be funded by Congress.

bottom line - the caravan(s) of illegals are so hell bent on reaching the U.S. border that they are lacking in the common sense to either stay in Mexico (who has offered work, health benefits, and education) or to head back to their home countries.

Top Income tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%

Capital Gains tax went from 15% to 28%
Dividend tax went from 15% to 39.6%
Estate tax went from 0% to 55%
A 3.5% Real Estate transaction tax was added.
Remember this fact:
These taxes were all passed solely with Democrat votes.
Not a single Republican voted for these new taxes.
These taxes were all passed in the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!
Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.
He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being eight again'?
Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.

Two police officers ordered to remove firearms from a house on a “red flag” protective order fatally shot an armed man Monday morning in Ferndale, Maryland, police said.
Anne Arundel County Police arrived at the house at 5:17 a.m. to remove guns from the home under a new law that temporarily allows for the seizure of firearms if a person shows “red flags” that they are a danger to themselves or others, The Baltimore Sun reported.
A man, later identified by his niece as Gary Willis, answered his door with a gun in his hand, Anne Arundel County Police Sgt. Jacklyn Davis said.
Sgt. Davis said the man put the gun down and then picked it up again, “a fight ensued over the gun,” and a shot was fired. The first shot didn’t strike anyone, but the officers then fatally shot the man, Sgt. Davis said.
Michele Willis, the man’s niece, told The Sun that one of her aunts requested the protective order against Mr. Willis, but she declined to say why.
She said police stopped by the home to speak with her uncle Sunday night. He lived above the garage and several other family members also lived in the home. Those who were there during the shooting were being question by police Monday morning, The Sun reported.
Ms. Willis said her uncle “likes to speak his mind,” but “wouldn’t hurt anybody.”
“I’m just dumbfounded right now,” she said. “They didn’t need to do what they did.”
Maryland is one of several states that passed “red flag” laws since the high school mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, earlier this year. Maryland’s law, which went into effect Oct. 1, is more broad in that it allows certain health care providers to seek an order, in addition to family members and law enforcement.

It died in Committee on May 4, 2018. The House & Senate are adjourned until January 14th, 2019.
What I find unnerving isn't that they're trying to protect the innocent with HB2769, I can see how this law can be twisted and abused...what I find unnerving is that this was introduced and they didn't let the voting legal Kansas citizens know what the hell they're doing. Our elected officials and our Governor should be upfront with what they're working on, what it is for, and why.... and more importantly.....they should put something like HB2769 on the ballot for the people to decide instead of making a decision without public input!!!!
