Well, believe it or not the House passed a border funding bill yesterday without a single democrat vote. (Imagine that)
So much for Pelosi's bold claim that Trump doesn't have the votes.
Now it's the Senate's turn to step up to the plate.
They'll either put the interests of the American people first or Trump (my president) is shut the whole damned thing down.
That's my president and if you don't like it.
Screw you.
Anyway, that's not what I really wanted to talk about today.
What I wanted to talk about is an article I came across last night on The Drudge Report.
It has to do with what passes as today's mainstream media.

DeleteHope you all are having a better day than me & ole buddy Sargejr. So I start my day out Thursday morning about 9 to go move cars for a guy that rebuilds wrecks. I go out to get in my old faithful Dodge [same one I drove to the summit] and NO reverse. Shit OK old truck and I knew it was just a matter of when and not if. So I go get my super clean 1988 Lincoln LSC that I keep hid in the garage. Go do my job come home and I go to Wally before all the rush so I can wait until next year. Put $40 gas in then get my stuff and come home. Unload my stuff next to my back door. Go out and my car is GONE. Call the cops and report it. Its about 12 30 Stolen. About 8 the cops call me found my car and I can come and get it. Cool. Car is in a church parking lot one block from me. Get up there and the cops are checking for prints all around the car. Want me to open it because the keys are gone and its locked up. No problem I tell them I have the extra key hid in car. Open the door up from the key pad on door. They had cleaned it out of any thing that wasn't worth shit .I don't leave stuff in car. Look for other key GONE. So I have to have it towed to my buddy's place cause we don't want it back at my place with no key and the thieves have all the keys. So know I have to try and find out if I can get new key locks. So this day is shot. I wasn't in and out of the house to the car more than 5 min. Keys were in car but not running. Cops got a lot of stuff for prints but don't know if it will help or not. They put over 120 miles on car. No damage except that I still cant use my car and my truck is out Just another day in the jungle.

Now first, if someone has a full auto they are pretty unlikely to turn it in, and if they do chances are pretty good they are committing a felony by owning it. And here's the capper. They are paying $25 for any high capacity magazine you turn in. So, go online, buy a ton of high capacity magazines for $12 and double you money.

ReplyDeleteTruth is I don't know details enough if that is good idea or not; however, on the surface it seems like an excellent idea. Been there too damn long and can't be world police. Then on the other hand, by being there are we in a better position to stop/disrupt terrorist activity from growing? In the long run, we don't want that area to be controlled by the likes of Iran, that would not be good for us.
Not knowing all the details a person just don't know what is best for 20 years down the road.

Congress closed up shop Friday night without a deal to avert a government shutdown at midnight, becoming snared by President Trump’s demands for new border wall money.
All sides insisted negotiations were underway but no agreement was on the horizon, and the adjournment of the House and Senate meant nobody would be around to approve it anyway.
That guaranteed the third shutdown of the year — one spurred by Democrats, one by a rebel Republican and this one by Mr. Trump.
The first two were brief, and all sides insisted they hoped this latest shutdown would also be short, though it was not clear what sort of deal might emerge.
The only major action Friday was in the Senate where, with the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Mike Pence, lawmakers voted to at least begin debate on a spending bill — but only after agreeing that there will be no more parliamentary shenanigans and brinkmanship.
Instead, the next vote will have to be on a big compromise, said Sen. Bob Corker, one of the Republicans who forced the matter.
“It keeps negotiations alive,” he said.
In gridlocked Washington that turns out to be a tangible accomplishment.
While most of the government is funded through the end of fiscal year 2019, dozens of agencies still don’t have full-year funding, and are slated to run out of stopgap money at midnight.
Without new funds they will go into shutdown mode, with only essential employees working.
Given the looming weekend, it’s unlikely average Americans will notice. And since Monday and Tuesday are now federal holidays, any real pain for the public would probably be delayed until Wednesday.
Still, it had appeared the entire episode would be avoided as senators on Wednesday easily passed a bill keeping agencies funded through Feb. 8.
The White House had signaled support but, after fierce criticism from conservative pundits, Mr. Trump upended those plans and said he wouldn’t sign the bill because it didn’t include money he’s demanded for more border fencing.
House Republicans backed Mr. Trump, adding in more than $5 billion for border security to the Feb. 8 funding bill, then passing it Thursday — disproving Democrats who’s said there weren’t the votes.
Senators, many of whom had fled Washington, got called back to vote, and Friday’s 48-47 tally — including Mr. Pence’s vote — showed that there was nowhere near the 60 votes needed to overcome a Democratic-led filibuster.
That left all sides reaching for a compromise.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn told reporters Friday evening that a $1.6 billion amount for border security “would make sense” as part of a deal.
That’s short of the $5 billion in wall funding that Mr. Trump is seeking, but more than the $1.3 billion Democratic leaders have offered in recent weeks.
“Obviously this is being discussed at high levels, and I think we’re getting much closer to a solution,” he said.
He said once a final deal materializes, lawmakers could speed it through quickly.
“I just can’t tell you [if] that’s going to happen in two hours, or five hours, or eight hours, so we’re working on it,” he said.

ReplyDeleteA couple was invited to a swanky costume party. The Mrs. got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the party alone.
He being a devoted husband protested, but she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his good time being spoiled by not going. So he took his costume and away he went.
The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour, awakened without pain and, as it was still early, decided to go the party.
Since her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him.
She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice looking woman he could, and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there.
His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his current partner high and dry and devoted his time to the new babe that had just arrived. She let him go as far as he wished , naturally , since he was her husband.
Finally, he whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed.
So off they went to one of the cars and had a quickie. Just before unmasking at midnight , she slipped away, went home, put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make for his behavior.
She was sitting up reading when he came in, and she asked what kind of a time he had ..
He said: 'Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there.'
- 'Did you dance much ?'
- 'I'll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete , Bill Brown and some other guys and we went into the den and played poker all evening.
But you're not going to believe what happened to the guy I loaned my costume to. ....
Well I guess its time to check in. I did get my car back in one piece. So for now every thing is ok. But have to get all the key locks changed but the insurance co. is paying for that. And I didn't shoot any body. But will never know what the real deal was as I am dealing with the key stone cops down here. Now if I was in Topeka I could pull my name and get something done. No not really

Rick already made the chocolate chip cookies w/ chopped pecans the day before yesterday - several dozen. He really put my kitchen Aid large mixer through it's paces.... he likes to make cookies from scratch.
Skippey, sorry to hear about your car - glad you got it back though. some people just have no brains. did you hear about the family last week who was staying at the Ronald McDonald house here in topeka? Someone stole their vehicle.
Not sure what to say about folks who get their jollies robbing other folks.... but crimes like that peak during the holidays it seems like.
Things are gonna be hopping here in a while, so I probably won't be on much this weekend.
I'm going to take this time now and wish y'all a Merry Christmas - dunno about y'all but the kitchen is the place to be when holiday meals are being prepared and goodies baking, etc., there's always a need for taste testers.... lol

So there's your first place to start. We have 800 thousand people on the federal payroll who we don't need. And there is no way in hell we need 2.1 million people working for us.
Nobody ever seems to think about this. I spent the last ten years working for the state government and it is the most corrupt, inefficient, poorly managed and overstaffed bunch of crooks you can imagine. You could eliminate 25% of the state workforce tomorrow and you wouldn't even notice. Same with the federal govt.
Time to get rid of some deadwood I say. We can shut down 25% of the government and not even notice a difference? Somethings wrong with that picture.

soon to start in on baking up thumb print cookies, a variety of flavors.... got more of the flavors already mentioned, plus I'm going to do some cherry thumb prints and going to try something very different.... got some orange marmalade for thumb prints - thought that sounded intriguing since I love orange marmalade on toasted english muffins.

House Resolution 7207 was introduced as a way of addressing the issues surrounding the government receiving donations for the border wall.
They are saying, screw the population, we won't fund and you can't buy anything because you are not smart enough to know what is good for you. So shut up, let the gangs in here to kill, steal and destroy. Let more worthless people in here to get free education, cash assistance, food stamps, free medical, cell phones......... and they will vote for Democrat.
