"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of "liberalism" they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will become a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." (Norman Thomas, former U.S. Socialist Presidential Candidate, 1948.)
Yeah, the American people, Massachusetts Tea-Baggers, if you will, have spoken loud and clear. And we're coming after the rest of you in November.
Got it? Good...

Imagine if you will, a world being run by insane people. Hell, you don't have to imagine it. Just look around. Just two short years ago ...
I like the evolutionary nature that statement. Use Darwin's theory for a second. Whatever ancient mammal we evolved from did not sit and think, 'Someday, my descendants will be human.' That's why I think that whatever the U.S. becomes, it won't be exactly socialistic as Norman Thomas seemed to be saying. We will probably become some kind of an expanding and contracting socially-conscious capitalism. It is conservatism that will slow the process of whatever we are evolving into so that we evolve into something much greater than socialism.
ReplyDeleteThere. Now I took all the fun out of it. But it calms me down. And it makes me proud to be a conservative. And it makes me love liberals more. If liberals didn't kick us in the balls now and then to increase social spending, then we might not have the FDIC. On the other side, we as conservatives have to keep taking the candy away from the liberals because enough is enough sometimes. Most of my friends are liberals, and whatever is being spent (or taxed) is never enough for them. It's particularly funny right now, because there ain't nothing to tax. We're going to China with our hand out.
Sorry gotta go on here. Don't you love Parkinson's 1% sales tax proposal? Dammit man! About a year ago a gallon of ice cream at Wal-Mart was five bucks. Now it's six. That's a twenty percent increase in sales tax. And he wants more?
Anyway. Breathe deep. Inhale. Exhale. Okay. Okay. I'm better now. I have to go now, Kevin. Gotta retreat into my philosophical perspective. I leave this to you. Good job!
Kansas already has the 16th highest tax burden per capita in the country. It's higher than all the surrounding states. Don't let Parkinson get away with making it it worse. As for Thomas, the only way his prediction comes true is if the voters fall over for candidates like Obama running for office on fake platforms that mask their true intentions and bring people like Pelosi with them.
ReplyDeleteYou know, Fred. There's probably a little bit of liberalism in all of us. And maybe one day, I'll write about that. But you're exactly right when you say "it's never enough."
ReplyDeleteAnd, Hawk, You gotta remember, Parkinson's a democrat. Increasing taxes is always their first and only answer.
As for the prediction. It's already come true. Just look at last year's elections. America gave the left a chance. Now we're going to fix it in November...
