Putting things into perspective...

Well, guys I'm up to my eyeballs on a blog concerning democrat controlled cities (shit holes) and I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone could vote for any of them.

Hopefully I'll have it put together by Wednesday but in the meantime I'm just gonna throw this out there for a little perspective.

I know I sound like a broken record but these aren't rational people we're dealing with...

  7. I'm second to no one in my dislike of nad-less Nadler, but it seems one of AOC's cohorts is trying to primary him, so he's trying to head them off at the pass. Explaining his impeachment fervor. He knows they'll never convict. Can he survive the socialist challenge? Who knows? And if a socialist is going to unseat an incumbent, Nadler and Schiff are among the most deserving ones.

But the thought of more AOCs and Omars is a bit much.

  9. Talking about men who want us to think they are women; Did you see the one who is suing a manicurist (I guess) because she or they refused to do some grooming (waxing I guess!) around his private parts! I wish they would do some grooming there, with a straight-edge razor!
All of these idiots are playing the worthless "elected" officials right and left, because they know most of them will do anything for a vote and will not "offend" anybody except "Old white people" who, it seems to be a requirement, that they must be offended!
What a bunch of worthless assholes that we have in charge! Thank God for President Trump and the few we have who still have some common sense and understanding of the Constitution! My God, I shudder at the thought still of Hillary Clinton ever becoming President!

  10. History...

During the dead of winter, March 21st 1944; Miles City, Montana; local residents woke to their quaint little town being overrun and submerged by the rising frozen waters of the Yellowstone river. Ice jams were building quickly, raising the subzero river water levels over 16 feet. As the blocks of ice, slush and freezing waters flooded into the city, residents were forced to flee their homes for safer grounds.

Miles City Mayor L.S. Keye knew immediate action must be taken, and brought in explosive experts from a nearby town. Two local pilots took a small aircraft over the river and attempted to drop and detonate 50 pound homemade bombs on the Yellowstone ice jam , but unfortunately it had little effect.

Mayor L.S. Keye then decided to do the unthinkable, and placed an urgent request to the Governor’s office.

His request was short, and to the point "Send in the Bombers!"

At a USAA base in Rapid City S.D., the crew of an B-17 were quick to accept the unusual mission, and preparations to bomb an American city were fast underway. The crew hastily began fusing and loading 250-pound bombs into the bomb bay of their Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. Shortly thereafter, the loaded bomber with her crew of eight, took to the skies in a harsh blizzard and low ceilings.

The plan was to deliver the bombs to Miles City where the load would be transferred to a waiting Dive-Bomber to execute the bomb delivery. As the lone B-17 was nearing Miles City, low clouds forced the plans to be changed. Under a blanket of 1000 foot overcast skies, the B-17 was then ordered to handle the bombing run themselves.

Originally planned to release the load at 10,000 feet, the low overcast forced the bomber crew to take their ship lower. At 1930 hours, in heavy snow, winds and cold, the bomber appeared over the river and executed two dummy bombing runs as crowds of locals watched in amazement. On the third pass, the B-17 released a test bomb that exploded precisely on target. Unsure of the effect, the crew brought their bomber around again.

Making a two more passes, releasing all six of the 250 lb. bombs. Hundreds of residents watched motionless, and none speaking a word. The entire town, their homes and their families future hung in the balance as they watched the bombs fall. Seconds later a huge plume of ice, mud and water exploded skyward from the frozen Yellowstone river.

The ice jam quickly broke apart, and the frozen waters slowly receded, saving the small town. The next morning, local residents were thrilled to watch as the water levels had dropped a full 10 feet from the day before.

That night the crew of the B-17 were welcomed by the thankful and relieved residents of Miles City Montana. The entire crew were put up at the local hotel, and each received a well-deserved steak dinner.

The next morning, the crew departed, and the B-17 made a final victory pass low over the town at 50 feet over the rooftops, rocking their wings as they flew back home to Rapid City SD... and so the story goes of the only time the continental United States was bombed.

"Cities like Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Portland, San Francisco and St. Louis plagued by a host of social and economic ills have been run nearly continuously by Democratic mayors and councils. As far as Republicans are concerned, that’s no coincidence."

AOC's Green New Deal would cost $70K-plus per household in first year: Study
Research by free-market think-tanks estimates costs in five states

By Valerie Richardson - The Washington Times - Tuesday, July 30, 2019

    __
    Some excerpts from the article....

In five model states — Alaska, Florida, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Pennsylvania — the ambitious resolution aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2030 would come at a high price to consumers, said researchers at the free-market groups Power for the Future and the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

“Economists and experts have been warning us for months about the devastating effects of the Green New Deal, and now we have the numbers to prove it,” said Daniel Turner, Executive Director of Power the Future. “This study only calculates a fraction of the cost of Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez’s radical plan, which amounts to a socialist free-for-all with no regard for the American taxpayer.”

Alaska would experience the highest cost increase at $100,505 per household in the first year, dropping to $73,092 in years 2-5, and $67,536 in the sixth year and thereafter, the research found.

In the other four states, the cost per household in the first year ranged from $73,010 to $71,910, with the price tag dropping to about $38,000 in year six. The 2016 U.S. average real median household income was $59,039, according to the U.S. Census.

“Our analysis shows that, if implemented, the Green New Deal would cost for American households at least tens of thousands of dollars annually on a permanent basis,” said CEI President and CEO Kent Lassman. “Perhaps that’s why exactly zero Senate Democrats, including the resolution’s 12 co-sponsors, voted for the Green New Deal when they had the chance.”

Judge tosses Democrats' case against Trump 2016 campaign
By Larry Neumeister - Associated Press - Tuesday, July 30, 2019

NEW YORK — Democrats’ claims that President Donald Trump’s campaign conspired with Russia were tossed out Tuesday by a judge who noted there were no allegations that anyone from the campaign stole documents from the Democratic National Committee.

The lawsuit brought by the committee alleged that Trump’s campaign conspired with Russia, WikiLeaks, Trump’s son-in-law and others. Trump’s campaign and lawyers for the other defendants denied the allegations.

U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl said Russia was “undoubtably” the primary wrongdoer in the alleged criminal enterprise, but the country can’t be sued in U.S. courts except in special circumstances not present in this case.

Meanwhile, he said the actions of the Trump campaign and others were protected by the First Amendment.

“In sum, the DNC does not allege any facts to show plausibly that any of the defendants, other than the Russia Federation, had any role in hacking the DNC’s computers or stealing its information,” Koeltl wrote. “It attributes that conduct only to the Russian Federation.

"And the DNC does not dispute that the documents were of public importance. Therefore, the First Amendment protects the publication of those stolen documents,” the judge said.

The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and the American Civil Liberties Union had submitted written arguments supporting defendant WikiLeaks‘ request that the lawsuit be tossed.

In support of his findings, Koeltl cited the Pentagon Papers case in which the U.S. Supreme Court concluded that The New York Times and the Washington Post were constitutionally protected when they published stories about a top-secret study that revealed the U.S. government misled the public about the Vietnam War.

In emails, several lawyers for people and groups named in the suit reacted to Koeltl’s decision. Emails seeking comment were sent to attorneys for the DNC.

Grant Smith, a lawyer for longtime Trump friend Roger Stone, said he was pleased the judge “saw through the Democrats’ thin lawsuit. It was always a Hail Mary in the DNC’s attempt to hold people, and in particular our client Roger Stone, responsible for the loss of Hilary Clinton in the 2016 election.”

Caroline Polisi, representing ex-Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, said the lawsuit’s claims about her client were “particularly anemic and bordered on the absurd.”

Joshua Dratel, an attorney for WikiLeaks, said he was “very gratified with the result, which reaffirms First Amendment principles that apply to journalists across the board, whether they work for large institutions or small independent operations.”

AP FACT CHECK: Off notes from Democrats on climate, economy
By CALVIN WOODWARD and HOPE YEN Associated Press JULY 31, 2019 — 7:25AM

WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential contenders struck off notes on the science of global warming and the state of the economy in their Detroit debate Tuesday night.

As much as scientists see the need for action on climate change, they don't lay out a looming point of no return , as Pete Buttigieg and Beto O'Rourke asserted. Bernie Sanders almost certainly overstated how much new income is soaked up by the richest Americans.

A look at some of their statements in the opening night of the second round of debates, with 10 more Democrats taking the stage Wednesday:

    CLIMATE

BETO O'ROURKE, former U.S. representative from Texas, on global warming: "I listen to scientists on this and they're very clear: We don't have more than 10 years to get this right. And we won't meet that challenge with half-steps, half-measures or only half the country."

PETE BUTTIGIEG, mayor of South Bend, Indiana: "Science tells us we have 12 years before we reach the horizon of our catastrophe when it comes to our climate."

THE FACTS: Scientists don't agree on an approximate time frame, let alone an exact number of years, for how much time we have left to stave off the deadliest extremes of climate change.

A report by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, drawn from the work of hundreds of scientists, uses 2030 as a prominent benchmark because signatories to the Paris climate change agreement have pledged emission cuts by then. But it's not a last-chance, hard deadline for action, as O'Rourke, Buttigieg and others have interpreted it.

"The hotter it gets, the worse it gets, but there is no cliff edge," James Skea, co-chairman of the report, told The Associated Press.

Climate scientists certainly see the necessity for broad and immediate action to address global warming, but they do not agree that 2030 is a "point of no return," as Buttigieg put it.

"This has been a persistent source of confusion," agreed Kristie L. Ebi, director of the Center for Health and the Global Environment at the University of Washington in Seattle. "The report never said we only have 12 years left."

    ReplyDelete
  36. Part 2 of 2

JOHN HICKENLOOPER, former Colorado governor: When it comes to fighting climate change, "What we do here is a best practice and a template that's got to be done all over the world. ... We need every country working together if we're going to deal with climate change in a real way."

THE FACTS: The nations most concerned with climate change certainly do not consider the U.S. a "template" for a solution. Americans per capita are among the world's biggest emitters of climate-changing carbon. The U.S. is also the top oil and natural gas producer, pumping out more fossil fuels on the front end.

On Hickenlooper's point about needing all countries working together, the U.S. under President Donald Trump is withdrawing from the Paris climate accord , a voluntary commitment by countries to combat climate-changing emissions.

    ___

BERNIE SANDERS, Vermont senator: "49 percent of all new income is going to the top 1 percent."

THE FACTS: That is surely exaggerated. The figure comes from a short paper by Emmanuel Saez, an economist at the University of California, Berkeley, and leading researcher on inequality, and doesn't include the value of fringe benefits, such as health insurance, or the effects of taxes and government benefit programs such as Social Security.

But Saez and another Berkeley economist, Gabriel Zucman, have recently compiled a broader data set that does include those items and finds the top 1% has captured roughly 25% of the income growth since the recession ended. That's certainly a lot lower but still a substantial share. Income inequality has sharply increased in the past four decades, but since the recession, data from the Congressional Budget Office shows that it has actually narrowed slightly.

    ___

SANDERS: Benefits under his health care plan "will be better because 'Medicare for All' is comprehensive and covers all health care needs."

THE FACTS: On paper, the Vermont senator is right. In real life, if he's elected president, the result might be quite different.

Sanders' "Medicare for All" bill calls for a government plan that would cover all medical care, prescriptions, dental and vision care, mental health and substance abuse treatment, and home and community-based long-term care services with virtually no copays or deductibles. The only exception would be a modest copay for certain high-cost medications.

But other countries with national health care plans are not as generous with benefits and also make use of copays to manage costs. Canada, often held up as a model by Sanders, does not have universal coverage for prescription drugs. Canadians rely on a mix of private insurance and public plans to pay for their prescriptions.

If Sanders is elected president, a Congress grappling with how to pass his plan may well pare back some of its promises. So there's no guarantee that benefits "will be better" for everybody, particularly people who now have the most generous health insurance.

    ___

TIM RYAN, U.S. representative from Ohio: "The economic system that used to create 30, 40, 50 dollar-an-hour jobs that you could have a good solid middle class living now forces us to have two or three jobs just to get by."

THE FACTS: Most Americans, by far, only work one job, and the numbers who juggle more than one have declined over a quarter century.

In the mid-1990s, the percentage of workers holding multiple jobs peaked at 6.5%. The rate dropped significantly, even during the Great Recession, and has been hovering for a nearly a decade at about 5% or a little lower. In the latest monthly figures, from June, 5.2% of workers were holding more than one job.

Hispanic and Asian workers are consistently less likely than white and black workers to be holding multiple jobs. Women are more likely to be doing so than men.

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib received a $2,500 campaign contribution from a prominent Michigan businessman who died more than 10 years ago, Federal Election Commission filings show.

George S. Farah, Sr., a real estate developer and community leader in Flint, Michigan, made the large donation on June 22. However, Michigan Live reported he died of heart failure at the age of 73 on Feb. 1, 2009.

According to a scan of public records by the Washington Free Beacon, Farah is listed as deceased, and the address linked to his name is the same one registered on the contribution to Tlaib's campaign. Farah's widow also lives at that address, Grand Blanc Township property records reveal.

Only one other politician has received a campaign contribution from Farah in the decade since his passing. Democratic Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee received $1,400 in total donations from Farah between 2011 and 2017. Farah made no such contributions to political candidates while he was alive.

It is illegal for individuals to make campaign donations under someone else's name, according to campaign finance law.

"It is illegal to make a campaign contribution in the name of another person and a campaign must ensure all donor information is reported accurately," Kendra Arnold, executive director of the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, told the Free Beacon. "The requirement of accurate disclosure of campaign contributors is important to inform voters of the source of campaign funds, prevent corruption, and ensure individuals are contributing within the legal limits."

A spokesperson for Kildee's campaign told the Free Beacon that "Gisele Farah is the sole beneficiary of a trust in her late husband's name, George S. Farah Sr., who passed away in 2009."

"Since his death, Gisele Farah, as the sole beneficiary in control of the trust, has contributed to the campaign with funds from her trust," the spokesperson added. "Our campaign's records have been amended to clarify that the campaign contributions were from Gisele Farah and should be designated under her name."

It is not uncommon for a deceased person to make donations to campaigns. According to USA Today, dead people made 32 contributions adding up to $586,000 that were given to political candidates and parties between January 2009 and August 2013.

  49. Scanning through the headlines I see they attacked Obama. Promised to eliminate fossil fuels and the millions of jobs that come with it. One guy vowed to give every American family $1,000 a month.
What they didn't talk about nor were they asked about was the economy.

But when your goal is to wreck it I doubt you would want to go on record saying so...

  50. did you catch where "I AM SPARTACUS" Booker said that the Republicans and Russians suppressed the African American voters in Michigan and that's why the Democrats lost Michigan?

Like y'all, I didn't watch the debates, I'm just skimming this morning's headlines.

  51. I didn't watch the debate either. Caught some of the stuff on the regular Fox shows last night. I did see where Tulsi Gabbard was slamming Harris pretty good on her prosecutorial practices in California. In my opinion, Gabbard would probably be their strongest candidate against Donald Trump if she gains traction. Female, Veteran, young, smart, and forgive me ladies for this politically incorrect statement, "Not too bad to look at, at all"! Anyway, we will see! Doesn't look like Biden hurt himself too much last night. Don Lemon, the CNN "opinion" guy on the panel, showed his usually bias "STUPID". All in all, another good night for President Trump!

    2. This is an outrage, agreed. But AG Barr has his reasons.... inasmuch as this is an outrage.... it could be that AG Barr is getting his "ducks in a row" so Comey ain't out of the woods just yet.

"Graham praised Barr's "prosecutorial discretion," and looked ahead to the other internal investigations that could be news for Comey.

"And if he does bring a charge against Comey after doing this, I'd hate to be Comey," he said."

Federal judicial panel dismisses misconduct charges against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh

Richard Wolf, USA TODAY Published 2:33 p.m. ET Aug. 1, 2019

WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh cannot be disciplined for his behavior during last year's calamitous Senate confirmation battle, a federal judiciary panel ruled Thursday.

The decision by the Committee on Judicial Conduct and Disability of the Judicial Conference of the United States agreed with a panel of federal judges that Kavanaugh's elevation to the Supreme Court put him out of their jurisdiction.

"Our committee, judicial councils, and chief circuit judges all lack statutory authority to review the merits of complaints against an individual no longer covered under the (Judicial Conduct and Disability) Act," the panel said. "As a Supreme Court justice, Justice Kavanaugh is not a judge subject to the Act."

The action followed last December's dismissal of 83 ethics complaints against Kavanaugh by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, which had been asked to conduct an investigation. The complaints alleged that he violated the code of conduct for federal judges in part by "making inappropriately partisan statements and behaving in a demonstrably hostile manner during the hearings" last year, as well as in 2004 and 2006 for a federal appeals court seat.

Kavanaugh, 54, was confirmed by a 50-48 Senate vote last October after surviving Christine Blasey Ford's allegation of sexual misconduct while he was a high school student in the 1980s.

As President Donald Trump's second nominee following Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch in 2017, the Maryland resident kept a low profile in his first term. He voted with the majority of justices more often than any of his colleagues and agreed with Chief Justice John Roberts 94% of the time.

  55. I'm pretty sure that Barr has a plan Skip! I'm also pretty sure that he, the IG, and the special investigator are way ahead of us on what they know at this time. The proof will be in the pudding or hopefully a shit sandwich for Comey and his crew!
