Evidently there are still two or three sane democrats left...

Came across this article the other day and decided it was too good not to pass along.

Evidently there really are a few democrats left out there that haven't completely and totally lost their friggin minds.

It's too bad they're so few and far between though.

One truthful Democrat emerges to call out party’s ‘delusions’

Bob Kerrey, the former Nebraska senator and governor, was always one of my favorite politicians in part because his politics weren’t perfectly polished. Among other free-wheeling moments, he called fellow Democrat Bill Clinton an “uncommonly good liar” and said a requirement for becoming president is that you must “want it more than life itself.”
Kerrey moved on to academia and now to an investment bank, but hasn’t lost the willingness to break ranks with his party. The habit surfaces in a withering criticism of current Democrats, in which he says they are suffering from two major “delusions.”
“The first,” he writes in an op-ed in the Omaha World-Herald, “is that Americans long for a president who will ask us to pay more for the pleasure of increasing the role of the federal government in our lives.”
He cites as examples the foolish push for the Green New Deal, wealth taxes and Medicare-for-all, all of which are being embraced by 2020 candidates.
The Dems’ second delusion, he says, “is that Americans were robbed of the truth when Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller and Attorney General William Barr concluded that President Trump did not collude with Russia in 2016.” He goes on to say there is no reason to think the full report will change the finding that Trump is an innocent man.
Those are remarkable observations — but Kerrey isn’t finished. He also supports the movement to find out what the FBI was up to in 2016, and why it led the nation down the Russia rabbit hole.
“Congress needs to investigate how the Department of Justice got this one so wrong,” he writes. “If the president of the United States is vulnerable to prosecutorial abuse, then God help all the rest of us.”
He makes several recommendations, including one that the congressional probe should be carried out by a nonpartisan commission of outsiders. He told me in a brief interview that the probe should complement, but not replace, anything Sen. Lindsey Graham does with the Judiciary Committee, or anything done by the Justice Department or its inspector general.
As he put it in the interview, he wants an independent commission because “we need something the public can trust.”
Taken together, the op-ed and his comments amount to a damning indictment of his party and Washington writ large. Who can argue?
The problem, of course, is that all leading Democrats are drinking the Kool-Aid that America is ready to embrace extreme, left-wing policies and that Mueller and Barr are covering up for Trump and Vladimir Putin.
This is the stuff of moon bats and tin-foil hats, yet if there is a major Dem in power with the courage to say so, I’ve missed it. The whole party, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi included, seems determined to hold hands and jump off a cliff.
Which is why Kerrey’s voice is so important and timely. Hopefully, other Dems will summon the courage to join him.
Much has been said about what is provoking the party’s lurch to madness, with the inordinate power of small social-media mobs and the dumbing down of college education being obvious contributors. But I remain convinced that the most comprehensive explanation for all the weird behavior is that it is a deeply misguided response to Trump.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is no joke — it is driving the opposition to make irrational and even insane statements and decisions. While some of the reaction has to do with Trump’s unorthodox conduct and habits, much of it is due to the simple fact that he has produced significant achievements for the country, something Dems never expected and can’t digest.
While success in politics usually spawns imitation, Trump’s success shocks his opponents and provokes them to behave in bizarre, self-defeating ways.
First, there is the mad-as-hell political lunacy exhibited by Reps. Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler. They are obsessed with impeachment and promise to find the facts to support it any day now.
They show no desire to spend a single moment on anything else, meaning they have abdicated their day jobs. Trump is their white whale, and we know how “Moby-Dick” ended.
Second, the policy responses are just as daffy. Take immigration, where Democrats long supported border security before suddenly opposing it.
Pelosi’s remark that walls are “immoral” stands in stark contrast to the fact that she voted for many of the 700 miles of walls that were built under previous presidents. To say they are “immoral” only because Trump supports them means she is willing to damage the nation because she hates the president.
Reparations are an example of a different kind. Why is support for this idea, which existed on the fringe for decades, becoming mandatory for the party’s presidential candidates?
My suspicion is that part of the explanation involves Trump’s success in driving down black unemployment to its lowest levels ever. Throw in the nascent movement among black conservatives to escape what some call the Democrats’ “plantation,” and there is real fear on the left that their near-monopolistic hold on the black vote is in jeopardy.
So, in a bid to trump Trump among black voters, Dems have decided that treating them as victims and giving them government handouts is the answer. But again, the response is self-defeating because support for such a radical and impractical proposition sets up a contrast that will favor Trump among most voters, including many black ones.
In political terms, 2020 is light years away. But with Mueller having spoken, and with leading Democrats trapped by their continuing delusions, the point of no return is growing closer by the day.

  5. I've always liked Kerry, since he was dating Debra Winger.

The thing about him is he wouldn't be allowed to represent the dem/com party in any election these days. Far too normal. He's old school liberal. Scoop Jackson, Hubert Humphrey, JFK liberal. That's not todays democrat/communist party. They are a bunch of crazy communist idiots under the control of Putin to do his bidding of destroying America from within. They are his most productive tool in his desire to destroy our country.

And things are about to blow up. We will soon enough know just how deep the Marxist from Kenya was involved in spying on Americans. And it's going to get ugly.

  9. BERGDAHL WAS RELEASED IN EXCHANGE FOR 5 TALIBAN GENERALS IN ORDER TO COVER UP THE OBAMA/HILLARY STINGER MISSILE SALES TO LIBYA.)

BENGHAZI AND THE MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS...

So here's the REAL story: Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to secretly retrieve US made Stinger Missiles that the State Dept had supplied to Ansar al Sharia in Libya WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission.

Sec State Hillary Clinton had brokered the Libya deal through Ambassador Stevens and a Private Arms Dealer named Marc Turi, but some of the shoulder fired Stinger Missiles ended up in Afghanistan where they were used against our own military. On July 25th, 2012, a US Chinook helicopter was downed by one of them. Not destroyed only because the idiot Taliban didn't arm the missile. The helicopter didn't explode, but it had to land and an ordnance team recovered the missile’s serial number which led back to a cache of Stinger Missiles kept in Qatar by the CIA.

Obama and Hillary were in full panic mode, so Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to retrieve the rest of the Stinger Missiles. This was a "do-or-die" mission, which explains the Stand Down Orders given to multiple rescue teams during the siege of the US Embassy.

It was the State Dept, NOT the CIA, that supplied the Stinger Missiles to our sworn enemies because Gen. Petraeus at CIA would not approve supplying the deadly missiles due to their potential use against commercial aircraft. So then, Obama threw Gen. Petraeus under the bus when he refused to testify in support of Obama’s phony claim of a “spontaneous uprising caused by a YouTube video that insulted Muslims.”

    Obama and Hillary committed TREASON!

THIS is what the investigation is all about, WHY she had a Private Server, (in order to delete the digital evidence), and WHY Obama, two weeks after the attack, told the UN that the attack was the result of the YouTube video, even though everyone KNEW it was not.

Furthermore, the Taliban knew that the administration had aided and abetted the enemy WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission, so they began pressuring (blackmailing) the Obama Administration to release five Taliban generals being held at Guantanamo.

Bowe Bergdahl was just a useful pawn used to cover the release of the Taliban generals. Everyone knew Bergdahl was a traitor but Obama used Bergdahl’s exchange for the five Taliban generals to cover that Obama was being coerced by the Taliban about the unauthorized Stinger Missile deal.

So we have a traitor as POTUS that is not only corrupt, but compromised, as well and a Sec of State that is a serial liar, who perjured herself multiple times at the Congressional Hearings on Benghazi. Perhaps this is why no military aircraft were called upon for help in Benghazi: Because the administration knew that our enemies had Stinger Missiles; that, if used to down those planes, would likely be traced back to the CIA cache in Qatar and then to the State Dept’s illegitimate arms deal in Libya.

Forward this again and again and again until everyone reads the true story of Benghazi. More than half of US citizens DO NOT KNOW THIS!

  12. The hallowed ground of Arlington Cemetery.

400,000 souls and counting have been laid to rest here since the days of the Civil War. Most folks don't realize it, but Arlington was actually once the plantation home of none other than Robert E. Lee, Commander of the Confederate Army.

Since those days, our decorated war dead have found permanent rest here.

From Revolutionary soldiers under George Washington's command. To defenders of our young nation during the War of 1812. To brother against brother in the War Between the States. And even the boys who stormed Omaha Beach to defeat the Nazis.

When you visit such a sacred place, a sense of reverence comes over you. There's a hushed stillness I can't really explain.

Looking out at rows and rows of crosses and Stars of David, you can't help but reflect on each soldier's story. And think about their lives, families, and sacrifice. This Memorial Day, we humbly say "Thank You" to every soldier who has made the ultimate sacrifice. And to the active duty military who are risking everything to keep us free today. It truly is a debt we can never repay.
I'm eternally grateful to live here in America, the greatest country on earth. Made possible by those who are willing to face the wolves at the gate in defense of liberty.

    Enjoy your Memorial Day.

    To your freedom, MAGA...

I noticed an elderly gentleman walking his dog on the sidewalk and I was going to start mowing near the sidewalk. I stopped the mower and the dog was friendly. The elderly gentleman and I started up a conversation and I asked him 'Sir, are you a Veteran?' and he said 'As matter of fact I am.' To that I replied, 'thank you sir for your service.' Towards the end of our little visit, Rick drove up.

Over the weekend also, like many folks did, we visited the cemeteries. I was shocked to see Mount Hope as soggy as it was, some headstones under water and some headstones looked like the grounds crew cleaned mud off of. I'm appreciative of the grounds crews who maintain the cemetery grounds - they definitely have some work ahead of them. Rick's Dad is in the Veteran's section, his head stone wasn't under water, must be on higher ground in that area. Rick's paternal grandparents, their headstone was ok too. But there were many that were affected by the heavy rains. My Mom's marker over at 6th & Gage was ok.

  16. Good morning all! A busy and fun weekend, going back to my old home town and alumni and reunion activities. Visited the cemeteries of my family members who have gone and it reminded me how much my family cared about this country! Of course, they were and still are not unique in that regard, especially for some reason, in the smaller rural communities I believe.
How Democrats can believe that those who are in charge of the Democratic Party, can honestly believe that their "leaders" are doing everything that they are doing, for them and American citizens and not purely for power and greed, is beyond me! You have to know that there are many Democrats out there who cannot stomach what they are doing, but you will never hear about it in the MSM! The ballot box is the only true poll to tell us what the voters think, and I hope it speaks very loudly in the 2020 election in favor of President Trump and the taking back of the house, as well as keeping or improving the majority in the Senate, by more conservative members!

  17. Mueller: Obstruction indictment against Trump mentioned in Michael Wolff book does not exist
by Caitlin Yilek May 28, 2019 11:14 AM

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office pushed back against author Michael Wolff’s claim that prosecutors drafted a three-count obstruction of justice indictment against President Trump.

“The documents that you’ve described do not exist,” Mueller spokesman Peter Carr said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.

In his forthcoming book “Siege: Trump Under Fire,” Wolff wrote that a draft indictment charged Trump with obstructing an investigation, tampering with a witness, and retaliating against a witness. He said his reporting was “based on internal documents given to me by sources close to the Office of the Special Counsel.”

The Guardian, which obtained an advance copy of the book, said it had seen the documents.

Wolff’s last book on Trump, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, was released in 2018 and heavily scrutinized for its flippancy with facts.

Mueller was appointed in May 2017 to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election. Nearly two years later, he submitted a 448-page report detailing the investigation’s findings to the Justice Department.

A redacted version of the report laid out 10 instances in which Trump might have obstructed justice, but Mueller declined to say whether he committed obstruction, citing a Justice Department guideline that sitting presidents cannot be indicted. "Because we determined not to make a traditional prosecutorial judgment, we did not draw ultimate conclusions about the President's conduct," Mueller's report said.

Attorney General William Barr concluded Mueller’s investigation did not find “sufficient” evidence to determine whether Trump obstructed justice. Barr defended the president’s behavior during the investigation as Trump being “frustrated and angry” with a process he believed was politically motivated.

House Democrats Read the Mueller Report Clearing Trump on Collusion
BY: David Rutz May 28, 2019 5:00 am

For 12 hours starting on May 16, House Democrats took turns reading Robert Mueller's final report on the Russia investigation.

What this accomplished is unclear, but the Washington Free Beacon excerpted the portions where lawmakers begrudgingly read that the investigation did not establish Donald Trump's campaign conspired with the Russians in their election interference operations.

In a Capitol hearing room, Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D., N.Y.), Sheila Jackson Lee (D., Texas), Mary Gay Scanlon (D., Penn.) and others got to tell the world things like, "The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities," and "the investigation did not find evidence that the Trump campaign recovered any such Clinton emails or that these contacts were part of a coordinated effort between Russia and the Trump campaign."

The New York Times summarized the entire affair succinctly:
His absence has left a disappointed House majority with little option but to stage political theatrics like Thursday’s 12-hour reading of the entire redacted Mueller report in a hideaway Capitol committee room before a few reporters, a guest appearance by the liberal activist actor John Cusack and the unblinking eye of a C-Span camera.

  30. The New York Post ?? LMAO... First the Moonie Paper ( Washington Times ), then Breitbart, Fox "News"... I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see Michael Goodwin of the NY Post splattered over this blog. The NY Post is a journalistic joke. What next, the National Enquirer ?? As for Kerrey, well, he was scheduled to speak at Creighton's Commencement - Creighton being a Jesuit university, but bowed out given the high probability of a vigorous demonstration by the anti-abortion crowd. He's entitled to his opinion as we all are. But the above is kind of fun to read - in the sense that it conveys a message that has the significance of a fart in a Kansas dust storm. Kerry is simply wrong. Here are the words from the man ( Mueller ) himself summarized.

"Let me begin where the appointment order begins, and that is interference in the 2016 presidential election. As alleged by the Grand Jury in an indictment, Russian intelligence officers who were part of the Russian military launched a concerted attack on our political system. The indictment alleges that they used sophisticated cyber techniques to hack into computers and networks used by the Clinton campaign. They stole private information, and then released that information through fake online identities and through the organization WikiLeaks. The releases were designed and timed to interfere with our election and to damage a presidential candidate.

And at the same time as the Grand Jury alleged in a separate indictment, a private Russian entity engaged in a social media operation where Russian citizens posed as Americans in order to influence an — an election.
The indictments allege, and the other activities in our report describe, efforts to interfere in our political system. They needed to be investigated and understood, and that is among the reasons why the Department of Justice established our office.

That is also a REASON WE INVESTIGATED EFFORTS TO OBSTRUCT THE INVESTIGATION. The matters we investigated were of paramount importance, and it was critical for us to obtain full and accurate information from every person we questioned. WHEN SUBJECT OF AN INVESTIGATION OBSTRUCTS THAT INVESTIGATION OR LIES TO INVESTIGATORS, it strikes at the core of the government’s effort to find the truth and hold wrongdoers accountable.

The first volume of the report details numerous efforts emanating from Russia to influence the election. This volume includes a discussion of the Trump campaign’s response to this activity, as well as our conclusion that there was insufficient evidence to charge a broader conspiracy. And in the second volume, the report describes the results and analysis of our obstruction of justice investigation involving the president.

The order appointing me special counsel authorized us to investigate actions that could obstruct the investigation, and we conducted that investigation and we kept the office of the acting attorney general apprised of the progress of our work, and as set forth in the report after that investigation, IF WE HAD HAD CONFIDENCE THAT THE PRESIDENT CLEARLY DID NOT COMMIT A CRIME, WE WOULD HAVE SAID SO.

We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime. The introduction to the volume two of our report explains that decision. It explains that under long-standing department policy, a president cannot be charged with a federal crime while he is in office. That is unconstitutional. Even if the charge is kept under seal and hidden from public view, that, too, is prohibited.

    ReplyDelete
  31. First, the opinion explicitly permits the investigation of a sitting president because it is important to preserve evidence while memories are fresh and documents available. Among other things, that evidence could be used if there were co-conspirators who could be charged now.

And second, the opinion says that the Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing.

And beyond department policy, we were guided by principles of fairness. It would be unfair to potentially — it would be unfair to potentially accuse somebody of a crime when there can be no court resolution of the actual charge.
So that was Justice Department policy. Those were the principles under which we operated. And from them, we concluded that we would — would not reach a determination one way or the other about whether the president committed a crime.

And I will close by reiterating the central allegation of our indictments, that there were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election. And that allegation deserves the attention of every American.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The above are Mueller's words. To put it another way, his comments distill down to this:

"The Russians interfered in our elections in a pervasive and systematic fashion. During our investigation, we could not find sufficient evidence to prove that the Trump Campaign willfully coordinated with the Russians, but there was plenty of evidence that they wanted to do so. We did find sufficient evidence to charge President Trump with multiple counts of obstruction of justice due to actions that attempted to interfere in our investigation, but we couldn't do so owing to DOJ policy that prevents the indictment of a sitting President. This is now on Congress, and you the American people, to decide the next steps, which given the evidence we uncovered should include a discussion of impeachment. Thank you."

Perhaps the most important clause in his statement is this :

"IF WE HAD HAD CONFIDENCE THAT THE PRESIDENT CLEARLY DID NOT COMMIT A CRIME, WE WOULD HAVE SAID SO. "

There is absolutely NO indication that the Mueller report in any way exonerates Trump. You have to do better than rely on page 6 of the NY Post. It's a joke.

Maybe after the Southern District of NY is finished with him and he's outta his prison garb, he can run for governor of Kansas ! You too could lose a billion in 10 years ! And Sam Brownback would feel redeemed !

    3. Boz, you’re as obsessed with Trump as Dreyfus is with Cleauseau or Captain Ahab with Moby Dick. We get it Boz - orange man: BAD! Yeah dude Profound.

And what illegal acts can be proven? Your wishful “thinking” does not constitute an offense. I’d think you’d want to drop the whole Stormy Daniels thing like the rest of the Dims / Dums / Dems do. Even if you take everything you say as gospel truth it STILL isn’t like he conspired with Putin, is it??

Come on Boz, you can tell it ALL to ol’ Holliday Howdy. I won’t shake you down for any more lunch money, promise! Won’t “pants” you in Nicklin’s PE class, either.

About need to call it a night, flying into Hartford Bradley tomorrow. Then off to reunion. I think I’ll wear some Lord Jeff togs, what do you think, Boz?

    4. You couldn't "shake" anything but your belly Howdy. Metabollic syndrome is bad news. Diabetes is a bitch. Damn "dude", you've been towering over midgets way too long. It seems if there is any obsession here it's yours for me. You only seem to tune in when I post a comment, much like Glenda the Witch of the South. Floating in to rescue the mental munchkins. I believe it was Pete Buttigieg who commented on the Trump freak show saying "it's the nature of grotesque things", we're compelled to look. This blog is frankly a pretty grotesque thing. But it is useful as a break from the real world. And I figure perhaps somebody might recognize the truth and do some research.

So big bad Howdy is going to go on a "pants" me. You need to escape the hell hole that is that crumbling little burg.

  38. Don't be stupid Ian.

They didn't exonerate because of politics.

The didn't charge him, because there is no evidence.

Not being able to charge a sitting president would of worked with Nixon? C'mon, you know better.
The evidence/charges would be presented to congress, much like the report that was submitted by Mueller.

Congress would impeach the president, then the DOJ criminally charges him.

    Simple as that.

This impeachment bullshit is political, and has no criminal element whatsoever.

It's just people pissed because he's not in the club, and won't play their games. That's all.

I'm all for it. Impeachment(without conviction, I might add) will send the clearest message to the American people.

    Go for it.

  39. One more thing Ian, the Democrat House may impeach President Trump but they will need the Republican Senate on board to complete it. It will not happen. Accept the truth Ian, President Trump will not be forced out of office.

And your negativity produced the replies that you are receiving. Just proving my point that you are doing text book "cause and effect" with people here.
