Ring of fire Saturday...

Happy happy Saturday, boys and girls.

I realize today's edition of Room 235 will probably come across as politically incorrect but, what the hell.

I got to thinking about the dumbass who set himself on fire in front of the White House a few days ago.

I can't quite wrap my mind around how anyone could even consider doing such a thing but I suppose he had his reasons.

Anyway, I thought it would be a shame if his efforts to draw attention to whatever he was trying to draw attention to went completely unnoticed.

I gotta go.

Enjoy your weekend...

How is everyone? You too Ian / Anonymous (Ian are you still in you state of denial about you mental disorders?)

The news is rampant with President Trump's comment about the Duchess of Sussex. Of course the media is playing into the hands of those who dislike our president. Just my take on things, when President Trump referred to the Duchess's comment from 2016 about moving to Canada - maybe he should have said "negative" instead of "nasty." He wasn't saying she was nasty it was just that she was so negative. Maybe it is a good thing she will not be partaking in the royal festivities as the Queen hosts President Trump & First Lady Melania Trump.

    1. Well proudlyDeplorable, in spite of my better judgment, I’ll respond to you. I assume what was your intention no ?

Any physician or mental health professional would advise against diagnosing any individuals from afar — armchair psychiatry, is irresponsible. But I see no indication you’re a physician or mental health professional anyway.

I do think what many in the psychiatric community have labeled psychological commentary may be appropriate, especially when confronted with someone who exhibits so many neurotic behaviors on a daily basis like Donald Trump. Many in mental health care fields have engaged in psychological commentary regarding Trump primarily because of observed behaviors, see the World Mental Health Care Coalition’s (WMHCC) abstract. Notice there are no diagnoses. The WMHCC has published the following. It reads in part:

“ Washington, DC, April 25, 2019 — Leading psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health experts have released a “report on the Mueller report,” highlighting its extensive documentation of Donald Trump’s psychological characteristics that point to dangerousness and incapacity to serve in his office. Beyond previous reports of actions and statements, the Mueller report shows the more compelling patterns of impulsivity, recklessness, a lack of firm grip on reality, manipulation of advisors, absorption in self-interest that overrides national interest, inability to consider consequences before taking action, paranoid reactions, an attraction to violence, and an absence of empathy, as well as apparent cognitive and memory difficulties. Without diagnosing, these make the President clearly a danger in his role as Commander in Chief and one on whom the world relies for steady and wise actions in international affairs.
We are among the 37 mental health experts, including some of the most renowned psychiatrists and psychologists in the country, who put their analysis in the bestselling book, The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.”

You’re almost begging the obvious question – what about the psychological makeup of Trump supporters ? Research that began many years ago has shown that the conservative brain has an exaggerated fear response when faced with stimuli that may be perceived as threatening. I’ve written before that the source of many negative emotions, fear, and anxiety, and aggression, is a part of the brain called the amygdala. The amygdala serves a useful purpose in helping us recognize some sort of threat. The problem with conservatives is that their amygdala is hyperactive.

Related to the above - there is also a theory that Trump supporters have a strong susceptibility to fear mongering. The inevitably of death creates existential terror and anxiety that is always residing below the surface (to some degree in all of us) . In order to manage this terror, people like those who post here adopt cultural worldviews — like religions, political ideologies, and national identities — that act as a buffer by giving life meaning and value. The posts are full of hyperbole – “Demo-commies” , “Socialist- Nazi Fascist dems,” or this gem “ government dipshits are still trying to make a big deal about the Ship John McCain name being covered over, over by Japan when Trump was there.” I suspect in a town like Topeka, where the notion of community has been shattered, this blog provides posters a sort of pseudo community to minimize the effects of Trump’s fear mongering. You may be afraid of those Mexicans, and dirty immigrants, but you can always come here and vent among kindred spirits.

So ProudlyDeplorable, you can go on celebrating a deeply flawed man, party, movement till the cows come home. But Kansas will go on suffering. Perhaps you should question why you support him. Whether or not YOU need counseling is a question I’ll let you answer. But don’t get out over your skis.

    2. Ian,
You truly need to get some professional help there in the city you live in for your mental disorders (toxic mentality, TDS, and narcissism).

Deep down regardless of your boasting, you know deep down within you that you won't be happy until you move back to Kansas. You can take the boy out of Topeka, Kansas but you cannot take Topeka, Kansas out of the boy.

You are truly jealous of the regulars who post here. They are good people Ian and you know that to be true. They are just carving out a living for themselves by putting one foot in front of the other - much like the whole of America across this nation of ours.

      Delete
    3. Your mental disorders Ian are quite noticeable in the comments that you post. So diagnosing you is quite easy. Get over yourself and get some much needed psychiatric help Ian before you alienate those around you and you end up a loner.

  20. I haven't heard about that comment yet. Guess I have not even been looking through the "news" that much, over the weekend. Your comment about Trump apparently making a comment about the Duchess kind of highlights what the Main Stream Press is these days, really just a glorified National Inquirer, in my opinion! When the "opinion" shows on Fox give you more real news than the so-called news channels and hard line press, then there is a problem!

I admire this man and his transparency, his honesty, his integrity.

As for the President's comment regarding the Duchess of Sussex, there is a recording floating around but we all know that with today's technology things can be created and made to look like it's real. If President Trump really did say that about the Duchess, I still feel that he should have used the word 'negative'.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "there is a recording floating around but we all know that with today's technology things can be created and made to look like it's real."

  26. Boz, you sassed me when I was out of the area (actually in deep Blue western Mass), but so much time has gone by we'll let it pass. Ol' PD (whose identity I have no idea) obviously at least knows some of the lingo of psychobabble. You're sure to be pleased, Ol' Pal, because I don't think you're any of the above. How can you be something that I don't believe in, after all?

It is odd, though, that you feel this constant need to belittle us. I just came back from being with a BUNCH of left-of-center acquaintances. Strangely, they felt no need to marginalize their own neighbors with confederate flags (Carroll Co, Maryland); Guiliani supporters (Washington Heights); and tax protesters (dear old Hampshire Co, Massachusetts), to say nothing of their classmates. And of course some of us - a gay doctor from Boston and lawyers from Manhattan and Louisville - were at least Republican ourselves. I would suppose, by observing the lefty media, however, that your attitude rather than theirs, is in the majority of the left. At least this time we didn't go into the Black Sheep and school some lefty kiddies.

As for the topic of the blog, I'm sure Kevin remembers the "Jump Against Trump" campaign. I suppose the Human Flash was in that spirit. Ever notice how in cases like this (but mainly financing abortions), the left insists on counter-productive actions. Poor people - and Democrats - having abortions removes future Democrats. I know most of you oppose such things on moral grounds, but the thought warms the hearts of Social Darwinists. Comments, my College Hill pal? PD?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes Captain, it is quite repetitious rhetoric out of Ian isn’t it. He likes to place himself up on that ivory pedestal doesn’t he. If he doesn’t watch it, he’ll end up skewering himself with his own pedestal.

Your report from your vacation is refreshing compared to the falsehoods Ian would like us to believe.

On abortion, Captain, I do not believe government should be involved at all. I do not believe in late term abortions, that to me is just plain murder. In the cases of rape and incest though, abortion should be done in the earliest stage of pregnancy (if that is what the woman wants). If abortion becomes totally illegal, then there will be back room style abortions and higher risk of the woman dying. What I do think what should happen to the savage men who rape women – surgical removal of everything below! As far as the man who set himself on fire, stunts like that make no impact other than to prove they are mentally unstable (much like Ian).

    ReplyDelete
  28. You know PD, if Boz would just get rid of the Virtue Signaling and the moral preening that goes with it, and cease belittling us, he'd be like my Liberal Pals in the Class of 89. Problem is, I don't know if he can help himself. And he wasn't in my class at THS (I think he was '74), but we have to have enough shared experiences there that I wish he was reachable. Sadly, he'd seems to rather insult us than actually talk to us.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Captain, I'm not sure what to say about Ian (I know that is not his real name - he has said as much because he doesn't want his real identity exposed).

Instead, Ian would rather cloak himself so that he can put his mental disorders on display without consequence. It is just another form of denial for him.

Since you have a connection (sort of) with Ian, was his behavior in school similar to the character he portrays himself to be here on the blog?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Captain, maybe Ian suffered a traumatic experience as a child or adolescent. Maybe that is the root of his anti-social personality?

    ReplyDelete
  31. you know the kind of atmosphere where someone grows up being bullied, turns into a bully himself.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The behavior of a bully, more than likely grew up being bullied. Maybe Ian is a victim of operant conditioning. In a sense, operant conditioning can be viewed as abuse.

Be that as it may, it is no justification for his behavior here on the blog. However, it does help explain why he bullies everyone here. He's used to being mistreated so he created an atmosphere himself so that he can continue being mistreated. He still wants to be punished. Ian's mental disorders are much worst than I thought.

People, you're dealing with a real sicko.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ah, Skinner! A psychologist with something real to say. I had never exactly thought of operant conditioning as abuse, but you may be on to something here. Did you notice that when I mentioned taking lunch money and pantsing he got VERY aggressive? Indeed that could be indicative of deep psychological trauma from the days of the Nixon Administration.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes I remember reading about that sharp response Ian gave. Ian must be so used to living that lifestyle that he never out grew it.

Ian, just how accurate a diagnosis is this? Care to say something?

    1. Sure what the hell. I've already said it. You're way out over your skis. Of course I don't want to release my real name - Topeka is a small town and who knows, perhaps I still have family. God only knows what the yahoos around here might do.

PD, your DX is ill informed and silly. Living in the Mid Atlantic in one of the best neighborhoods in DC is pretty close to my idea of the American dream. What in god's name do you think Topeka has to offer? The people I know still living there all went to get out.

I began posting in the CJ. It was interesting to get an inside look at the mindset of the red state folk I had observed from afar. When I noticed this blog, I assumed it would be somewhat similar. It's not frankly, but it's still interesting to see the thinking of Trump supporters. Kansas is rotting, but most red states are. I'm curious to know why anybody would support that.

PD, I am not a board certified psychiatrist, and it's obvious you aren't either. But I did complete a psychiatry rotation during my third year of med school at Hopkins. The psych block is fascinating, but depressing. But then I will go weeks not posting here because the posts can be every bit as depressing. It's like facilitating group therapy, or adjusting the dosage of imipramine for a severely depressed patient.

Obviously I'm not looking for confirmation here - I don't need it. What concerns me is the picture you people here give of a dying part of America. I'm afraid Trump supporters, who live for the most part in the most dysfunctional states, the least productive, least educated, and most violent, want to spread their nightmare to the rest of the country. I'm doing my best to stop it.

And here I thought I was doing this blog a favor. It was showing signs of dying a slow death. Or perhaps not that slow. So I chimed in. In the back of my mind I continue to hold out hope that while someone here, while not wanting to lose their membership in this ship of fools, actually reads some of my posts and starts to wonder just how much good Trump really is doing. I think he has been a massive disaster and the polls indicate most people agree with me.

I don't know who you are PD, or if you were posting on the CJ Blog way back when. I explained why I could not use my real name. Is there a reason you don't go by yours ?

    2. Ian you certainly missed your calling. Since you are so good at acting, you should have gone to the land of the silver screen.

  35. TDS is incurable.
Even 2020 will fall short to provide what is needed to overcome the denial the left is so deeply mired in. The left has always been self-loathing. Never any appreciation of the individual or freedom, only group concern. Hell, they hate individuals so much, everyone has an identity now, so as to fell the people into groups, and destroy independent thought.

Nice seeing you around these parts, PD.

  48. I drove to Houston last week and it rained the entire way there. Drove back to Dallas and it rained all the way back. We are expecting more rain over the next couple of days. I don't mind the rain, but I am waiting for the plumber to tell me when he can start to tunnel under my house to fix a broken pipe. The broken pipe is under the slab in the center of my house. This will not be an easy job and the plumber tells me he will have to dig through my flower gardens and front yard to get under the house. We don't have basements here in the Dallas area so they will need to tunnel under ground. I am not happy at all about this, but at least I caught the problem before the water seeped into my home and nothing has backed up in my washer, tubs or showers. My two toilets are working fine, just having problems with the third one at the back of the house, so I shut the water off to that bathroom. Ugh. I am greatful, it could be a lot worse. As you may know CBD is made from hemp. Sone of these older folks take three drops under their tongue every day and they tell me it makes their pain go away. There is a new shop opening up close to where I live and they will be selling it. I'm not the type of person who will do something just because someone says it works for them but I must say it has piqued my interest. Just thought I'd pass that along if any of y'all have back pain or joint pain. They say it will also help with headaches.

Democrats plan Capitol Hill event to put Trump's mental health under fire
by Kimberly Leonard June 05, 2019 12:00 AM

Democrats are planning to host a Capitol Hill event featuring psychiatrists who will warn that President Trump is unfit for office based on his mental health.

The event will be led by Dr. Bandy Lee, a Yale School of Medicine psychiatrist and editor of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, a book that argues psychiatrists have a responsibility to warn the public when a president is dangerous. The position is controversial because psychiatric associations urge members never to diagnose patients they haven't personally evaluated, saying it undermines the scientific rigor of the profession.

This is so true - of the Democrats. And yes Democrats should be ashamed of themselves!

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/jun/4/democrats-mute-trump-bashed-overseas/

    By Joseph Curl - - Tuesday, June 4, 2019
    ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Once upon a time, there was an ironclad adage in America: “Politics stop at the water’s edge.”

Its meaning is simple: We can disagree at home all we like, but when the president of the United States — America’s president — goes overseas, we are all Americans. All of us. Whether you voted for the current president or not, Americans are bound together by the simple undeniable bond that we are all, in the end, just that: Americans.

But for Democrats, they don’t care one bit that America’s president is being bashed overseas, U.S. policy ridiculed. They hate America’s president so much that they sit idly by — and mute to boot — as Londoners violently protest and throw detestable names at America’s president (whom I’m not going to name in this column precisely because his specific name should not matter).

America’s president flew to Britain on Sunday for an official state visit that included a lavish banquet with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. He was also there as the top U.S. official to celebrate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, when America and its allies thrust a dagger into the heart of Nazism and saved the world.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Part 2 of ??

Back at home, House Democrats were busy preparing to move forward with a censure against America’s president as an alternative to impeaching him. Rep. Ro Khanna, California Democrat, said it would be “a permanent mark on the president’s record.”

While Tuesday marked the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, when the Chinese military slaughtered hundreds and perhaps thousands of young students, Yahoo! News went with this headline, “[America’s president] accused of breaking royal protocol by touching the queen’s back.”

CNN’s top story: “Here’s what the anti-[America’s president] protests look like.” The second top story: “Nancy Pelosi is winning the impeachment fight.”

Meanwhile in Britain, America’s president was being harangued.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called America’s president a “fascist,” deemed him a “growing global threat,” and said Britain — America’s greatest ally — should not roll out the red carpet for America’s president. Forget for a moment that it’s … what’s his name, the London mayor was saying all this about the president of the United States.

Mr. Khan said America’s president is “the antithesis of our values in London and as a country,” and claimed that the president’s “divisive behavior flies in the face of the ideals America was founded upon — equality, liberty and religious freedom.”

Other U.K. politicians have denounced the state visit. Some refused to attend the palace banquet with America’s president, others sought to ban him from speaking to Parliament.

Through all this, no Democrat — not one — defended America’s president from the savage attacks against him. No Democrat is unhappy that some miserable mayor is slamming America’s president? Not one of them would step forward and say, simply, “Hey, we can say that, but you can’t, so shut it”?

This has all happened before. When America’s president met in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, a former Obama official deemed it “treason.” A CNN “analyst” called for a “shadow government” to take him out. An MSNBC contributor said the performance of America’s president will “live in infamy” as much as Pearl Harbor or Kristallnacht. Former FBI Director James B. Comey said, “Patriots need to stand up and reject the behavior of this president.”

Hillary Clinton went even further. “Question for [America’s president] as he meets Putin: Do you know which team you play for?” the two-time presidential loser wrote on Twitter.

(A quick aside: I didn’t vote for Barack Obama, but he was MY president. I disagreed with almost every one of his policies, but when he went overseas, nobody better slam him or his policy. I’m an American and he was the American president, So I’ve got his back. I also don’t agree with everything America’s current president does, but when he’s abroad, he’s MY president.)

America’s president on Wednesday will celebrate Britain’s steely nerve on D-Day. On June 6, America’s president will represent all Americans in France for more ceremonies to commemorate the momentous day.

But Democrats couldn’t care less. They’ll continue to bash America’s president, even as he is overseas representing us. Not Republicans … all of us.

    They oughta be ashamed.

  68. Part 3 of 3 -

Times have changed, respect seems to have gone out of fashion - and that's a tragedy.

One point that stands out rather quite clear is that the Democrats have become a rowdy bunch of hateful people. They are hellbent on retaliating against President Trump for beating their beloved Hillary and changing a lot of Obama's policies.

You Democrats who are reading this - what the Democrats in Washington are doing isn't working for the people, they are self serving themselves and have long forgotten about you, their voters.

Another thing, with all the junk that has been flung at President Trump is that his resilience speaks louder than you realize.

  69. the wrap up of the three above posts

Democrats in Washington have no respect for no one but themselves - the editorial is right about how the Democrats should be ashamed.
